WOYWW #114
My desk isn't the neatest place today because I have been working trying to get my tag class together for this next Thursday and for some reason I have procrastinated getting any of my classes done for this month. Don't ask me why cause I have ideas flying through my brain but I can't seem to get them to stick long enough to get done!! Funny thing was I thought that I had the tag class almost completed and found out that I was having a major brain fart and I was no where near done. I even thought the tags were at the store on display but when I went to get the info out of the box to type up the direction sheet they were in the box and not done!! I have CFS/ME and FM and my doctor tells me that this problem with cognitive processes is due to what he calls Fibro Fog... I guess I should be happy it isn't Alzheimer's huh!!! Oh...before I forget this is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday and if you want to check it out head over to the Queen of Snoop, Julia's blog. You never can tell you might want to play along with us.
On the mat on my desk I have one of the tags I am working on finishing for the class. I had to pull out the beading tools to attach a bead charm and a philosophy tag to the fibers at the top. I did an emboss resist using the Tim Holtz Falling Leaves stamp set and used different colors of distress stains. I then cut some leaves using the TH Tattered leaves die and colored card stock that I stamped the leaves on randomly. I put rock candy distress stickles on them to give them some sparkle. I decided that I wanted to try using the leaf stamps with emboss resist because there is so much detail in the veining and stems and I think it worked really well! The define your life is a stamp set from Stampin'Up! that has 28 stamps with various words and definitions on them.
Here is an up close of the charm and philosophy tag. I also like the way the resist shows up in this picture. Do you think the leaves are too sparkly? I will post the other tags in the next day or so. I am going to make myself 'work' tomorrow and get everything done for the rest of the month too!
When I got home Monday evening there was a box sitting on my front step from the UK. Keryn and I have been emailing back and forth and she sent me some of my most favorite things in the whole world...Jaffa Cakes and Typhoo tea! Keryn also sent one of her handmade cards and it is gorgeous and I couldn't get my camera to cooperate and take a good picture! Now I know that you probably think I am nuts about the tea and cakes but the first time I went to London in 1991 I stayed at the Baden-Powell House and they served Typhoo tea. The teas here in the states weren't as black or as strong back then and I am a caffeine addict! The coffee at the BP house was really not too good back then so I drank lots of tea. I am told it is much better now!!! The first jaffa cake was given to me by a young scout at the same place when he decided to share with the crazy American Mum!
Thank you Keryn for sending this pigeon my way! I love the card and plan on framing it. The cakes and tea...another story.

wonderful tags and Jaffa cakes - you will survive - sending you some prepping gusto!
ReplyDeleteI also have a Dutch pretties parcel giveaway on my blog today if you fancy some colour!
Thanks for sharing your WOYWW desk today,
Sarah at 3
Oh Vickie - I was almost crying with laughter here - love the expression 'brain fart' - I had that too yesterday :) Your tag is stunning and nope, not too much glitter! Congrats on the Jaffas and the tea - what a sweet friend! Happy WOYWW honey! Di xx
ReplyDeleteI so love your desk - that tag is fabulous not too sparkly at all - it looks like it has morning dew on it. How nice to be sent a parcel like that too - mind you I am not a fan of jaffa cakes but I do like a nice cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteLOL - fab post. Laughed out loud at the 'brain fart' - an excellent description of what seems to happen to me on a regular basis!! Your autumn tag is LUSH! I could live with that on my wall, gorgeous. You learn all sorts about people on this blog, don't you??
ReplyDeleteLove from a fellow jaffa/typhoo-aholic xx :D
PS I'm doing my first giveaway this week if you'd like a go xx
Oh, what a great post! I love that tag - the class will be amazing. And I love your pressie from the UK - tea and jaffa cakes - yum!! and a pretty card too. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your work space is looking great this week, and that tag is just amazing! actually I think Tesco's own Jaffa cakes taste better, but their own coffee and tea I actually took back... well, it does say you can on the packet! PG tips, decaffeinated for me! (which I also have to send to daughter, along with marmite...)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Happy WOYWW

Don't frame the jaffas and tea! Enjoy them. Lovely tag.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post!!! I love that idea... I have those brain farts all the time... glad it all went ok and that's a fab tag... glad to see you are joining in the the birdcage swap... there are already 6 of us and I hope many more to come... have a good week

Thanks for sharing your space this week and I hope the rest of your week goes well! I know what it is like to love certain things, I still think that South African Bar ones are the BESTEST chocolate in the world but it is not always easy to get them here in the UK. So enjoy the treats!
ReplyDeleteNever stayed at BP House but did stay at Olave House on my way to an International Camp in Denmark and had the fortune to breakfast with the Hon Gervas Clay (Hon. Betty St. Clair Baden-Powell)who was a delightful lady.
ReplyDeleteLove your tag, am a sucker for autumn colours, so rich and warm. Look forward to seeing your collection later.
Happy WOYWW - Hugs, Neet x
Brain fart.........Oh Vicki, you make me die, Lol!
ReplyDeleteI love you tag just the way it is and there can never be too much sparkle. It reminds me of a mist on the leaves on a dewy morning in November.
Love the food parcel too. I sometimes send Crunchy bars and Branston Pickle out to my friend in Switzerland because she can’t get them out there, so I can sympathise.
Have a good week and Happy Crafting!

Isn't it fab when we get generic handmade cards that are suitable for framing? I had a Friends card a few years back and it now has pride of place on my DDs wall... Never worry about the Fibro Fog, just get into writing everything down!
ReplyDeletehugs!
Hi Vickie, great tag and I love the leaves because they look as though they are just touched by the first frost of the season, reminds me of those gorgeous autumn walks when you can feel the leaves crunching as you walk over them and you can smell winter in the air. That's a beautiful card Keryn sent. When I was in the states I yearned for ginger nut biscuits and Yorkshire tea - stronger than Typhoo :) Elizabeth x #60
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that you recieved a package from across the pond! The card is beautiful too! The tag is looking awesome! No worries about the forgetfullness. I have mommy brain (with 3 kids) and that is really no excuse! LOL! Thanks for sharing your WOYWW! -Amanda
ReplyDeleteI love Jaffa cakes! :))And I love your tags. such a warm color.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so hard On yourself, everything will be done in time;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd no you are not nuts when you love some tea and cakes, it is the memory you have with it that makes it special.....
Greetings, marjolein
sometimes i think procrastination is inspiration just waiting to happen. Or maybe that is just the adrenalin rush when we realise how little time we have left for mojo to kick in! Lovely tags though so seems to have worked out for the best
ReplyDeletecaroline #83
Lucky you! Never had those cakes or the tea, but they sound delicious! The card she sent you is lovely too :) I like that tin box under the beading tools. Your tag is great! the leaves definitely add to it!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Jaffa Cakes ...can eat about 10 with no problem ...except their effect on the ever expanding waiste line. Great tag ..like the glitter but if I am honest I would put it just on the tips I think. Good luck sorting the class out ...have fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat Glitter and embellies on your tag! Will have to google the "jaffa" cakes:)
ReplyDeleteWow that tag is a beautie! Love the Rock Candy Stickles, must get some it looks great. Ah yes, Jaffa Cakes, remember them well, still my brothers favourite treat! We get loose leaf teas from Mountain Rose Herbs in California, Ceylon and Assam have always been my favourite because of the strength.

The things I pick up from WOYWW! First time I heard "fibro fog" and just came from Sue's who said she was "bloomin' fumin". Now I'm curious about Jaffa Cakes and tea. Love the tag BTW - such pretty colors, which I guess means Fall is on the way.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tag and card- I see why you loved it. I must admit, I loathe Jaffa Cakes, as I detest anything to do with oranges, lol. I did find something similar though, which has a cherry filling, and white chocolate. Now those I can eat by the packful:) Happy WOYWW, Shaz
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that tag and no, it can't ever be too blingy! OK 'Fibro Fog' ? Can I claim that one when I lose it too, do you think? Sounds pretty serious to me and like a d.. good excuse.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Your post made me laugh out loud!! Love the tag and how lovely you got a surpise parcel.
ReplyDeletekyla
Erm....Vickie...I dunno how to say this....it happens to me and I don't have to live with any of your conditions. My daughter diagnoses it as an age related problem. That makes me also selectively deaf! Cor, glad the revelation of not done stuff didn't throw you into a flat spin! The tag you show is utterly gorgeous, real beauty. As for your gift from Keryn..perfect. Is that another WOYWW forged friendship?
ReplyDeleteI have what I call brain freeze and I also don't have your conditions as an excuse/reason. Your desk looks fabulous and so well organised. Enjoy your Jaffa Cakes.. love them! and i'm a tea addict too. How lovely of Keryn to send such a gift.
ReplyDeleteLove joZarty x
Love the tag! I am SO ready for Fall.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tag! What a treasure Keryn is - gorgoeus card AND yummy Jaffa cakes too.x Jo
ReplyDeleteI love that you have survived the major brain fart, thanks for calling in on me earlier, and I think when it comes to farts bigger is defiantly NOT better...

(silent but deadly killer farts)
Dx
We also call "brain farts" "senior moments" in our house and also in work. My Boss has them regularly!! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat tag with leaves is gorgeous and not too schparkly at all!
I agree with the Jaffa Cakes but prefer Glengettie tea!! It is Welsh and a little stronger but with flavour!! Just sayin!
oh, you must have been so let down to realise they weren't done! But the one you've showed here is lovely. I don't think there is to much sparkle - could be frost-like. :) Glad you like our jaffa cakes!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, thought I was the only one on planet who uses the phrase 'brain fart'!
ReplyDeleteLove your Autumn tag, gorgeous colourd :)
Know exeactly what you mean about the 'fybro fog' hun it's a nightmare! I carry a little notebook everywhere with me lol-have 'to do' lists for everything!
Thanks for sharing.
*hugs* Sal x
love your desk. gorgeous tags. Thanks for the glimpse. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteMm, Vickie can too relate to the brain reeling - of having thought you've done something and not and of course the reverse of not remembering I have have done it.. super weird I always find!! however really adore the tag you have done - and am a little fussy on tags but it is super! thanks for sharing and pray for better days of health and productivity in the latter part of the week - oh, and adore your gift too isn't it fun to get things like that! Shaz in Oz.x
ReplyDeleteY'know I can spend ages looking at a desk this full of good stuff & stash! Its great, so much to look at, and you know its funny I spot loads of stuff we all have the same, on all the desks from all over....its great knowing your from a great big old crafty family eh!.. the leaves are great, they look like they have had a sharp frost on them, looks wonderful! Great looking Tags, bet the class is going to be fab wish I was attending!...Now Jaffa Cakes FAB one of my very faves love them....however I only drink Yorkshire Tea, as its a lot more body & its a lot stronger than most teas, its also more fefreshing for some reason! Let me know if you would like to try it & I will send you some!..anyhow no WOYWW for me this week too busy with work & other boring stuff!!! Hopefullu back soon! Take care & keep well Vickie!

ReplyDeleteI love these 'autumn' tags with the leaves. I'm not sure if the leaves are real or not :D
ReplyDeleteGood to here there are more people who adores English tea. When we are in the UK we take a few packages tea with us back home... and cakes of course.
Sorry I am a little late getting around but I’ve had a two day’s craft tour. Thank’s for visiting me.

ReplyDeleteHi Vickie - thanks so much for your lovely comment on my blog. I love your WOYWW post - great desk, great projects, and I don't think your leaves are too sparkly!! They are gorgeous. (I like sparkly!) Sorry to hear you have M.E. too, and Fibro - fortunately I don't have the latter. Hard to have to quit work because of it. I'm about to explore both your blogs!
ReplyDeleteYou have a wonderful space! And I love your tag, I hope your class goes well. Enjoy your tea and cake.
ReplyDeleteWow the tag is gorgeous, and also the admit tag card on a later post. I love the glittery leaves, I'm not normally a glitter girl but love the effect on the tag. Your craft desk is not messy but array of crafty inspiration. Kezzy x
ReplyDeleteHello Vickie! Your tags are lovely! I love the rich deep autumn colors you chose to use and the leaves are the perfect touch. Looks like they have been kissed with the morning dew. I also love the Philosophy tag and the little "dodad" you have attached to it. Thanks so much for joining us at Simon Says Stamp and Show Challenge. <3 Candy
