I have spent the past couple of weeks being not as productive as I wish I could be but then that is life in the Doswell house and just getting a meal together or a load of laundry done can be a challenge. Speaking of challenges, I am late on a couple that I subscribe to each week and I have all sorts of ideas that I would like to put to paper but not the energy it takes to complete them. Ah yes...life! I keep telling myself that it will be better tomorrow! Since my desk is rather boring you need to step over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground to see what all the other WOYWWer's are doing this week. WARNING: it is addictive!
Here is a picture of my desk this week. As you can see it is loaded with all sorts of 'stuff' that I have managed to accumulate but not much in the way of productive projects. My daughter is a lead supervisor/manager at a new JoAnn's that has opened here in town this past week. I signed up on JoAnn's a while back for coupons and last week they sent me a 20% off everything including sales items so I went in and loaded up on things I just can't live without. There is a stack of DCWV(die cuts with a view) paper/card stock pads that were on sale at $999 from $19.99 that I applied that coupon to and I saved 70% on each pad. The grand opening is next week so I will probably apply the 50% off coupon to something then. My daughter tells me they are going to have $10 gift cards for the first 100 people who come to the store the first 3 days of the grand opening so I will have to be up and about early those days!! Heather knows me better then that! I am never up and about early!
Here is the only thing that I have made/created since last week. It is another attempt at Steampunk. I stamped the clock and the woman's head then covered it with the accent glaze and after several attempts I doubt I will use the distress ink to stamp with again cause the glaze makes it change colors. I like the card and composition and I think I will use it for a woman's thinking of you/all occasion card!
Thanks everyone for all the kind thoughts regarding the birds last week. I think you may be right about them being ready to leave the next cause I have seen a definite increase in the number of birds around this week. I was so distraught thinking I was a baby bird killer for sure! Anyway I off now. I plan on visiting all sites this week if at all possible. If not it will be my goal for next week. I am such a snoop though it bothers me when I can't see everything!!!
lucky you with all that new stash, but you'll need to clear a space to use them lol. loving those sweety jars with the buttons in
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing

Hi Vickie! Well what can I say the DCWV sale & coupons almost made me want to get a flight over just to get bargains, you did good their! And you say... I only made this card this week....ONLY....Blimey I love it!! I am rubbish at Steampunk, get it wrong every time & it ends up in the big! But you have pulled it off here I thinks is really nice! Love the Lady stamp,..are those Tim's cogs?? how do you get them to stick to the card?? Mine always fall off?? Let me in on your secret :) Please!!!

Your steam punk card is worth it's weight in gold!! It's gorgeous. Now if you could just go to bed very very late then you would actually technically be up early. Thats what I do then I can honestly say I'm up at 4am. Hugs Mrs A & Monkey.#107
ReplyDeleteHope the new stash helped your MOJO. We had a change in weather now it is 65 instead of 92 and it really helped my attitude. And I also went to Joann's for a "FEW" things, yeah right...had to wait til my DH went outside to really unload the car. BUT I feel wonderful. I started challenges, have paper strung all over and couldn't finish anything either. Hope that phase is over. I love your steampunk design, Happy WOYWW and have fun
ReplyDeleteNow there's a desk full of interesting goodies - and how nice to have the chance of more. :)
ReplyDeleteI love bargains and steampunk (great card btw) so good post for me this week!! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYour desk is never boring Vickie. Love the steampunk work but I just can't do distressed and such. Am such a wimp! Those birdies will be fine - probably chirping amongst themselves saying 'Ha, ha - fooled yah'!! Di xx
ReplyDeleteDont be distraught about the birds! Hey, having your daughter work in JoAnns is a bit like industrial espionage, huh! How marvellous! Gotta love the bargains, and I really like that card..I'm a bit afraid of steampunk!
ReplyDeleteGood for you having your daughter at the store - not so for the wallet!
ReplyDeleteI love steampunk and that woman's head is fantastic.
Glad you feel more reassured about the little birds now. Hugs, Neet #5
Wow, that is quite a stash you got yourself! I really like those mini easels. Getting up early will be worth it!
ReplyDeleteWow, lucky you...you have a daughter working at JoAnn's, I love that store!!! We don't have them here in Canada so when I get the chance to visit one I tend to go crazy. Hope your feeling better soon!
ReplyDeletethanks for the peek. Have a very creative day
ReplyDeleteGreat stash, and I love the steampunk picture- really cool. Happy WOYWW, Shaz
ReplyDeleteAh hunni, I know how you're feeling-my fybro's been really playing up for the last couple of weeks and just getting out of bed is a challenge some days, so I'm really happy to see you're out and about more!
ReplyDeleteWell done on your crafty bargains...who can live without DCWV cardstock eh?!
Loving your little steampunk make-I think the colour bleed is actually very lovely, try using Stazon or Archival with your glossy accents if you want to avoid it though. I have a fab technique for faux tortoise shell that makes use of the bleed...I'm off to put a tutorial together for it lol will let you know when it's up :)
*hugs* Sal x
Hi there Vickie, the tutorial for the faux tortoise shell is up (yeah I know, that was quick...well it's a quick technique! lol), hope you find it useful!
ReplyDeleteOh and don't forget to leave a comment under my candy post :)
*hugs* Sal x
Hi Vickie
ReplyDeleteSorry you're feeling a bit rough, I think plenty of sleep for you might help. I know I'm not sleeping nearly half as much as I should - and know it will catch up with me.
How fab that your daughter will be working at what I understand is a brill store for crafters! How fortunate too that you have all those coupons too...
Love the card - I'm not very up on steam punk (and am yet to 'get' it), however, it looks lovely and something I'd be happy to receive.
Hope you are feeling much better soon,
Paula x x x
Hi Vickie! Maybe this new JoAnn's and a little push from your daughter will get your mojo ticking again. I have never used distress inks before so glad to read that tip today!
ReplyDeleteGreat desk and love your steampunk card. Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDeleteHi there Vickie lovely treasures and bargains to be had!! :D I pray one day you will be able to get up early enough to score a gift card!! how handy to have daughter to tip you off on things! Happy WOYWW and trust hands and body co-operate for more craft to happen for you, Love Shaz in oz.x
ReplyDeleteI think you are more creative than I am. I can't seem to get anything done, much less work in my basement, something I need to do. It's too hot here, so I hope that's not the case where you are in OK. I've noticed the temps are very similar to ours.
ReplyDeleteLovely card and luck you on the bargains! And Steam-punk? I hadn't heard of it a month ago and now I'm hearing all about it everywhere, must get me some!

(HaPpY WoYwW!!)
I love sales too, but i try real hard to resist! I have too many things I haven't been ab le to use, and my room needs organizing before I add anything! Have a nice time at the opening!
ReplyDeleteI am so upside down this week ...thought I had visited already ...well I'm sure i did but forgot to comment ...senior moment. Caught up on ypour last week post too ...beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the birds are fine ...you just gave then a nudge ...they sound as though they were due to fly the nest anyway xx
Great card - and I've loved the bird shots each week - don't fret on the fly away, they do that! Mum & Dad are probably cheering you for giving them the push they needed.... at least you didn't hurt yourself! Thanks for stopping by...
ReplyDeleteLove your crafty space, and all those goodies are yummy. Loving your steampunk style. Kezzy x
ReplyDeleteOhh loads of goodies on your desk there!!!! I only have a couple of trays to craft on, but I do love nosing around other people's desk with WOYWW - enjoy!!!
