WOW! I had a couple of bits of good news yesterday! First Lyn at Spyder's Corner sent me a blog award! Thank you Lyn! Secondly I was one of three chosen to receive product from StampersAnonymous that was unveiled at CHA last week. They were giving away products on Tim's blog so Jan at StampersAnonymous had everyone on the Creativeblock-StampersAnonymous group on Yahoo! comment on what they would like from CHA and she picked us out of all the people who posted. I can't wait to see what she sends!!
This is WOYWW and my desk has definitely been busy this week! Not that you would notice now with old fat cat Stormy lying there like she owns the space. I went to get a cup of tea and a cookie and when I came back this is what I found!
I have been working towards getting my class projects together for this month and so far so good. The tag class for last night was canceled due to the forecast of inclement weather...more snow headed our way I am afraid and and so the class was rescheduled for Thursday. I hope it melts enough so that we can make it into the store because there are eight people signed up and I have made eight kits and there won't be another time to do it before Valentines! The tags all turned out nicely and you can see them here! The next class is my layout of the month and that group is scheduled to meet on 19 February. I have posted that layout and it can be seen here! The kids class meets on the 22 February and we will be making a chipboard book. I can't wait to see what they come up with cause I am going to put stickers and paint and chipboard out and let them go. I want to see how creative they can get!! My example for them is here.
My desk has a couple of tags I am working on for my tag class next month at WLS. I have been working my way through A Compendium of Curiosities by Tim Holtz and several people have asked me to show them how to do it. Most everyone coming to my class has the book and we are learning together. A work in progress so to speak.
I was asked yesterday about how many stamp sets I own...and my anwser is I don't know. Hundreds I am sure. Here is a picture of one of three shelves in my craft room and this one has close to 200 sets on it. Unlike some of my fellow stampers I can't get rid of any of them so I take them off of wooden blocks and EZ mount them so I have room for more. Get rid of stamps! It's like being told I need to get rid of my children, my critters, or my husband...I just can't do it. One of these days when I get my craft room straightened around I will take pictures and let you see all the stash but it is too big of a disaster for me to ever post it on the blog right now!
If you want to join in with all us crazy women who traipse around the globe from the comfort of our desk chairs snooping into other crafter's blogs and work spaces head over to Julia Dunnits site Stamping Ground and see how you can join in the fun.
Congratulations and the the cat takes centre stage. A beautiful creature.
ReplyDeleteI can hear mine in the next room rustling things. He destroys everything in sight, at the moment it is the dried flowers.
Yours looks like a very well-behaved cat.
Sue xx
Ah thanks for showing us your stash and know what you mean about your stamps but dont have nearly as many as you am changing some of my wooden ones over to ez mount but not all of them, thanks for sharing,

I too have a TON of stamps, & a good portion of them are on wooden blocks, I'm interested to know HOW, with pictures you take off your rubber & recreate them into EZ mounts??? And where do you get the containers to hold them? I have a small office that's keeps getting smaller as my 'stach' gets bigger. Your idea sounds intriguing, please share details with pictures, links & sources to get more organized & save space like you!

My palms are sweating just looking at your stamp sets! How wonderful to have so many!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of stamps, but I am getting rid of the EZ, in favour of being able to use them with rocker blocks. Your desk decoration is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteoh my you do have a ton of stamps!!!! oh what fun to go through them and remember all the ones you've forgotten about!Glad you liked the freebie, now you have to have a go at the spot the difference!!
ReplyDeleteLove the kitty!!
((Lyn))
what's the difference in the rocker blocks & the EZ mounts?
ReplyDeletetee-heee heee I love spot the difference!
ReplyDeleteThose two tags are to die for. Just loving sitting here drooling over them. Such fabby colours.
ReplyDeleteStormy looks like a cat who knows his own mind.

Hi Vickie,
ReplyDeleteLove those tags. I agree about the stamps. I can't part with any of mine and I have a soft spot for the wood mounted. Love them!

Stormy reminds me of my old cat Topsy (old as in when I was a child) whom I loved so much.
ReplyDeleteI am just the same as you, can't get rid of stamps so unmount them - maybe one day .... Great tags you have done - so deserving of the award. Oops - nearly forgot congrats on your win - can't wait to see what it is.
What a great schedule of events you have coming up! Hope the snow doesn't hamper them..... Your tags are beautiful.. To answer your question about the bow making....take the link in my blog post to Paper Craft Planet, join ( it's a formality that costs nothing), then go to Tutorials and scroll down to about the H's cuz I think it's under How To Tie a Bow with a Fork (something like that). You'll be a changed crafter for sure!
ReplyDeleteThx for visiting... *smile*
OOOOH Lovely tags. And you cat is so lovely. Sounds like a productive time for you :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your award and your win!Your tags are beautiful, and the Tim Holtz book i am also working my way through it ...just fab.Happy Wednesday

Those tags are just too gorgeous! And I wouldn't mind your kitty sitting on my workspace (it's not really a desk). I am trying so very hard not to buy any more stamps, a vain hope, I fear!
ReplyDeleteCool...thanks for the inspiration. I bought a big roll of ezmount, but have not unmounted my stamp sets yet...and like you...they are mine for life!!!
ReplyDeletePrizes galore! That's the best! I can't get rid of my stamps either. Love your set up.
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie, thanks for commenting on my blog and sharing your tags with me too - love all of them - I too teach workshops locally and also demount my wooden stamps! we are so alike!! Congratulations on the blog award too. I quite fancy the idea of joining in with a Pay It Forward but probably cant until sometime next week - does that matter? Thanks Nicki
ReplyDeleteGreat crafting going on there. Why not show the disaster area as we like disasters more than tidy areas and then you can show us the comparison when you've sorted it all! Hope the weather doesn't stop your classes and wish I could come.
ReplyDeleteStormy is a dish! Makes me miss mine so much but with travelling so much I won't get any more furry babes.

Hi Vicky - thanks for popping in yesterday - is there a tutorial on the net re taking stamps off wooden blocks? I'll show how I store them next Wednesday but the cabinet could be put to better use by far. Shirley #52
ReplyDeleteLucky you hope you get something fab from Stampers anon.

Thanks for the peek around your space and for visiting mine too!
xoxo Karen
Congrats on getting your stamps all converted. That's quite an accomplishment - and you still had time to visit my blog. Bless you. PS I'm an SU fanatic too.
ReplyDeleteI so wish my cat would hang out in my work room...she is very aloof!!! Not fair not showing your workdesk!!! I still love having my wood stamps on wood...I am so old fashioned that way, but have all my newer stamps in binders!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cat! Loving your stamp shelves; I would so like to stop by for a rummage and a play. You have a busy class schedule there and it sounds like great fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming to visit,

ReplyDeleteso glad to see i am not the only one with a load of stamps like that...won't show the full dresser, full set of 8 closet shelves or the two storage tubs of wood mounted stamps that i have...i can't bring myself to take them off of the blocks because i like the stickers...what did you do about that part when you unmounted yours?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your blog award and free products, how exciting. Love your little stamping kitty friend, she looks very relaxed. Your tags are beautiful and wow look at all those stamps you have stored.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've had some great news this week, Congrats. What a gorgeous cat, they love to help out don't they.
ReplyDeleteYour tags are stunning, what a busy lady and I'm impressed with your stamp storage. Thanks for the tip on cutting through that sticky stuff, I'll give it a try.
Sorry to be so late getting to you this week and thanks for visiting me.
