Fun times! WOYWW #457

Welcome to Wednesday!  It is bright and sunny here in Oklahoma and the temperature today is only 30°f (4°c) but it is dry and sunny!  I slept in late today so my post for WOYWW is late but...it is here.  What is WOYWW?  Go check out Julia's blog Stamping Ground for details on how to join!

Been busy doing nothing this past week...too cold in the craft room and my arthritis doesn't handle that well.  I just learned I have psoriatic arthritis in my hands...say what????  Never heard of it so I had to look it up.  Doesn't look like it is going to be a lot of fun to have...  I have ordered a radiant heater that should be here later today so watch for cards and scrapbook layout next week.

My desk isn't any different then last week so thought I would show what I did last night.  I went to a painting party and drank margaritas and painted!  It was a lot of fun!
my painting...not quite done yet but we only had 2 hours!!

My friend Beth (on the right) and her sister Janet host this fundraiser every year to raise money for Relay for Life...a fundraising group of the American Cancer Society.  I try to go to events like this and support research as I can.  See  huge margarita sitting here?  This is a local Mexican food restaurant about 2 miles from our house and they have good food and awesome margaritas...luckily I didn't have to drive too far to get home!
Most of the group but not quite all

 one of the instructors
another instructor and her husband helper!

This is what we were suppose to paint but you know me...I have a hard time following directions!

Okay that is it for me today.  I managed to make it around...although some were on Monday...to everyone in the group!  I really enjoy seeing what everyone is doing.  Have a great week!

WOYWW #228

WOW!  Just WOW!  I remembered today was Wednesday and I am going to post something...Not a lot but something anyway!  I couldn't believe it when I saw that the last time I had posted to WOYWW was in August!  I could make excuses about how busy I have been and how much traveling I have been doing but I think I will just let it go with an...."I'm baaaack!"

My desk this week...

Not much creativity around here...the mojo took a hike and I haven't had a whole lot of inspiration to do any crafting recently....well that is wrong!  There is a lot of inspiration but not much motivation to do much of anything.  My latest craft endeavor was at Heathers painting class last night where I painted a big harvest moon, tree, and bats to celebrate the season!

I decided not to put anything like Happy Halloween or similar on it so I could keep it up all year if I decided to.  I am happy with the way it turned out!

Haven't been feeling really well of late and when I do I am playing catch up to get stuff caught up again.  I spent a night in the hospital last month because of some chest pain but after megabucks of tests I still don't know what caused it but I am hoping it never comes back.  I have a doctor's appointment with a specialist on December 3 so here is hoping she will find out what is going on with me.

If you are wondering what all this is about crafting and desks etc go visit Julia at Stamping Ground and come play with us!

It was a fun and crafty weekend!

Yes, yes it was.  I am actually glad to be at home and not out and about running around cause I am really a home body at heart and this has been a busy week running Heather to her surgery and follow up on Tuesday and Wednesday and then doing something that was craft related for hours and hours each day the rest of the week.

It started on Thursday for me when I taught a tag making class making Easter tags with a group of women at Scrap That in Norman!  I taught 3 tags using Tim Holtz style techniques, stamps, and threw in a few 'extras' that made sure we had some fun.  Everyone seemed happy with their tags and said that they would book again next month for the 'group therapy!'

I think this purplish pink tag is a favorite!  I love the colored Easter egg popped up and given a 3d effect!

You can see the 3rd tag in this post...it was the furry one that my friend dubbed as creepy and since she took the class I had to cut her a paper rabbit out of a Starbucks corrugated cup cozy!

Friday was the painting class with Heather and the rest of the class mates at Scrap That!  I posted on that class in a previous post but I am so proud of my painting I am reposting it here!
Don't you love those yellow flowers!
Saturday was an all day crop at Scrap That! where 28 women got together to visit and share fun time doing what they like to do best...craft and gossip!   We all had projects going that were different so when you needed to exercise a bit we would wander around and check out what the next tables were doing.
Heather was checking her text messages here but spent the day painting some canvases for her painting classes next monthIf you are interested contact Scrap That! at 310-3400 to sign up.

I was busy trying to get some stuff done for classes next month too.  I was having brain issues though and seemed to throw more stuff in the trash then I got accomplished!  I hate it when I do that so I spent a bit more time wandering around trying to get motivated to create then I did actually making anything.   I did manage to finish another month in the Graphic 45 calendar pages!

Anyway it was a good weekend but I am glad it is Sunday evening and a day of rest!

Painting!

My daughter held her second ever class teaching basic techniques to a bunch of us non-artist types on Friday night at Scrap That in Norman.  OMG!  I was so happy with how many people showed up this time and the awesome pictures that we made!  Here is a group photo she took of all of us.  Unfortunately one of the participants, Usha, husband came and took her away before the photo op!
This was a landscape that was suppose to show the flower fields with bigger flowers in the fore ground...well mine had a little bigger flowers....Want to see a bigger picture?
)My daughter took this picture and she says the saying on the wall is not indicative of what she thinks of my art!!)  I am looking pretty frumpy in this picture me thinks!  I have lost a few more pounds and the camera has picked up how baggy my clothes are getting.  Not that I am complaining!

Heathers next classes are on April 13th and 27th.  I think I am going to bring a margarita, tortilla chips, and salsa for the one on the 27th...I might share but if you want to make sure you get one you should BYOB!!!
April 13th 1-4 pm
April 27th 6-9 pm

Fun class and it was a lot of fun meeting new people and swapping stories and laughing and having fun!  If you would like to join us for one of the classes call Scrap That! and book your seat cause classes are limited to the first 15 students that call in!  Call 310-3400

WOYWW #196 and purple crazy!

March 6, 2013...already!  Seems just like a day ago it was January 1 and I was having issues remembering that it was 2013.  I had heard that as you age time goes faster but OMG!! Everyone is invited to my wake/party tomorrow if time keeps passing at this rate.

Today is also Wednesday and everyone knows that Wednesday is a special day in Blogland.  WOYWW #196...another where has time gone!  Get yourself on over to Stamping Ground and check out the details of how you can play with us from Julia Dunnit the creator of all that is fun in this blogland!

My desk this week...
Desk is loaded up with stuff I took to teach a class.  It never fails that I take a month to get stuff put back in the right drawers!
Several someones asked me if that little desk area about was all that was to my craft area...nope it isn't.  I actually have a whole small room that is mine to play in but I am rapidly outgrowing it and have said on more then one occasion I was thinking about taking over a bigger room to turn into a playroom.  I just have problems doing that because I am afraid I will just grow to fill the room.  I want room for people to come play so once I wrap my head around no more 'stuff' I will move.

Here is a wide angle of the desk for those who want to see more.  As you can see I have 2 file cabinets full of 8 1/2" x 11" cardstock.  Some of my 12 x 12" papers on on the rack to the left.  I have 2 Alex storage drawers holding all sorts of playthings and 2 clip it up embellishments racks to hold goodies!  Feel free to look around there is a lot to see in this mess!
I took a painting class this past weekend that my daughter taught.  First canvas painting I have ever done!  My daughter is a graduate from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in art and she makes it so easy to follow her directions!  If you would like to see some more of Heather's artwork just click on her name and it will take you there!  If you would like to see her jewelry click here!
Can you tell I love purple?

Well I guess it might be true that I am purple crazy!  I love the colors red and blue so it is only logical that PURPLE tops my favorites chart.   I made gluten free cupcakes today....I like those funfetti cupcakes so I bought a gluten fee yellow cake mix and the purple funfetti frosting...I also put the candy bits in the cake mix!  Yummy!

See the yummy candy bits in the center?
I made a lot so feel free to help yourself to one and go get a cup of coffee and enjoy a hop around blog land!  I am!

Have a great week!

Fun day!

I spent a wonderful Saturday interacting and having fun with my daughter and some friends painting in a class Heather taught at Scrap That! on Main Street in Norman, Oklahoma.  The class is loosely based on some of the other type of painting parties that are cropping up all over the place right now and Heather graciously agreed to teach us how to paint.

Here are examples of Heather paintings that she brought to teach the class:

don't you love the warm colors in this picture!

Heather did a blue one so we could see color variation!
Here is a couple classmates pictures:
Lana is redoing her kitchen in neon's and plans on hanging her picture there!
Terri was talking about giving this to a Granddaughter but then she might change her mind and keep it in a spare bedroom!
 My picture:
Don't you love the way it matches my hair!  I am purple crazy here lately!
I love purple and I love the way Heather showed me to shadow and high light to make my picture more 3 dimensional!

While teaching the class Heather made another painting to show us how to do it!  Isn't it pretty!

I like the way they all come out so different yet the same depending on the colors!
Next painting class we are going to do a landscape.
I really like the picture and it is a little dark in this photo but not so much in real life.  Heather said that she will show us how to 'lighten' it up if we want to paint it that way!

After the class Heather, Terri, and I went over to Heather's house to have a girls night.  We stopped and bought KFC for supper and watched the latest video release in the Twilight series "New Dawn part 2"  Love the Twilight series!
