Summer of Color Week 2 and NBUS #1

Well it has taken me almost a week to finally complete something for the SOC 4 (Summer of Color) challenge and I think I am going to use it for the NBUS (never been used schtuff) challenge since everything on it is something I have had but never used.  I have listed buttons on the right side bar for both challenges if you are interested in coming along and playing the challenges game or just checking out some of the other players.  I do it cause I need something to get me motivated and the people I play along with are awesome!

The color prompt from Summer of Color this week was...
Coral & Teal
with a Smudge, Splash or Pop of Bright White

NBUS was to be loosely tied to friendship and my daughter Heather and I spend a lot of time crafting together and she is one of my best if not best friends ever.  Heather and I love to spend time by the sea.

I tried to paint something, draw something, etc. and finally fell back on Graphic 45 By the Sea papers and stuff I had in my stash that I have never played with before. It was really hard to get both a true color and a sharp picture so I decided to go with a sharper picture!  When I held all the embellishments up to the block I had painted teal blue they matched and now some look too blue or too orange....OMG!  Any way here is my creation...hope you like it.

What is is made of you ask...well my son-in-law was cutting up some 2"x 4" boards one day and there were 6" long pieces left over so I glommed onto them cause I knew I could use them some day on something fun.  The designer paper from G-45, some stickers from K&Company, real sea shells, Spectrum Noir pens for coloring, glitter glue, and some embellishments from the stash.  I have had the eyelash yarn forever and have no idea who it is produced by!  The cabinet knob on top is from Michaels and a real find for $.06 each!

Come check out both challenges and play along.  It is a lot of fun!

Happy New Year...a day or two late!!

I remember my Mom and Grandma making remarks about how fast time flies as you get older but holy hell I would like for it to slow down to a Mach 1 at least.  Seems like just yesterday that we were welcoming 2013 in and now I am behind in wishing everyone a Happy 2014 New Year!

I have several classes coming up this month and I don't have the tags made up yet but thought I would share these with you and add the tags later...

First class is on January 9 it is all occasion cards made from the Graphic 45 Place in Time collection of papers.  I used the January cut apart sheet and a sheet of navy, white, and red card stock to complete all three cards and had some left over I could have made a couple more!

Here are what the inside of each card looks like...

The blue card should be labeled "oh baby it is cold out side!"   The red card has the postcard and snowy fun stamps!  The white card has a pocket that will store 3 cards that you can write whatever you want on to send to the recipient!
Second class is on January 18 at 10 am and is a squash book I made using the Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper.  It was just sitting on the shelf at the store and I thought to myself hmmm...wonder why I haven't made something with this yet!  So here it is...  I think squash books are a lot of fun for carrying around in your purse and putting little pictures in.
I love the paper flowers on this book and all the pretty colors!
Like the feet in this picture?  I couldn't crop them out without distorting and I don't have the book to retake it!
Third class is a tag class making Tim Holtz style tags for Valentines day...  No samples made yet but I will get them cranked out soon.

That's all for today!  If you are in the area and want to take the class call Terri at Scrap That 310-3400 to sign up for the class you want to take!

Happy Labor Day and a share of Graphic 45 Bohemian Bazaar and Steampunk Spells layouts!

Went to Terri's store yesterday and got to help her get a few things ready for her store's first birthday party this next Saturday.  WOW! it is going to be a lot of fun and the store is sporting some new views too.  If you haven't signed up for the party then you better hop to it and call 405-310-3400 to sign up as space is limited and you won't want to miss this party!

After working us half to death +];-)  she gave us run of the store and told us to go forth and make some layouts...so I did!  I made two layouts...YES! I do scrapbook on occasion... The first layout is using the Graphic 45 paper line Bohemian Bazaar (3 different pages) and Bazzill (2 colors)card stock... Nothing in this except the papers and little bit of fussy cutting and using a floral stamp with Versamark to make the background mats.  Fun.

I love this paper line because it is so bright and beautiful it is right in your face from the moment you focus on it.  Loads of color, texture and flowers...reminds me a bit of the 1960's and the revolution of the youth of the day...me included.  The bright clothes an attitudes that changed the world...mine anyway!  I have sent some pictures over to Walgreen's to have printed and I will pick them up tomorrow and add them to the layout!

The second layout is also Graphic 45 papers called Steampunk Spells (2 sheets), Bazzill card stock, Steampunk Spells die cut card stock embellishments.   I decided to make larger mats for larger pictures cause I like big pictures!  Trying to do something different I used some orange tulle net on the left side and crunched it up with glue, added some vine ribbon, and pop dotted some embellishments from the Steampunk Spells die cuts on top.  I also used the embellishments to make the banner across the top and the gears on the bottom are cut from a Cricut cartridge called Accents and Bazzill card stock.
I love this paper line also because it is so bright and fun.  I am a big grunge and Steampunk fan and this puts the brightness in to the mix.   I also have some pictures being printed so will come back in the next day or so and change out the pictures so you can see them with photo's!

Hope your Labor Day holiday is going well and you are being safe on this last holiday of the summer!  I am glad I am not still working cause I hated working ED on Labor Day because people seem to lose sensibility and take risks on their ski's and swimming at the lake because it might be the last time the get out there this year.

Don't forget to call the store and save your seat for the big Birthday Bash on September 7!

It was a fun and crafty weekend!

Yes, yes it was.  I am actually glad to be at home and not out and about running around cause I am really a home body at heart and this has been a busy week running Heather to her surgery and follow up on Tuesday and Wednesday and then doing something that was craft related for hours and hours each day the rest of the week.

It started on Thursday for me when I taught a tag making class making Easter tags with a group of women at Scrap That in Norman!  I taught 3 tags using Tim Holtz style techniques, stamps, and threw in a few 'extras' that made sure we had some fun.  Everyone seemed happy with their tags and said that they would book again next month for the 'group therapy!'

I think this purplish pink tag is a favorite!  I love the colored Easter egg popped up and given a 3d effect!

You can see the 3rd tag in this post...it was the furry one that my friend dubbed as creepy and since she took the class I had to cut her a paper rabbit out of a Starbucks corrugated cup cozy!

Friday was the painting class with Heather and the rest of the class mates at Scrap That!  I posted on that class in a previous post but I am so proud of my painting I am reposting it here!
Don't you love those yellow flowers!
Saturday was an all day crop at Scrap That! where 28 women got together to visit and share fun time doing what they like to do best...craft and gossip!   We all had projects going that were different so when you needed to exercise a bit we would wander around and check out what the next tables were doing.
Heather was checking her text messages here but spent the day painting some canvases for her painting classes next month.  If you are interested contact Scrap That! at 310-3400 to sign up.

I was busy trying to get some stuff done for classes next month too.  I was having brain issues though and seemed to throw more stuff in the trash then I got accomplished!  I hate it when I do that so I spent a bit more time wandering around trying to get motivated to create then I did actually making anything.   I did manage to finish another month in the Graphic 45 calendar pages!

Anyway it was a good weekend but I am glad it is Sunday evening and a day of rest!
