It has been an interesting and busy week this week! I thought that I would have all the time in the world since I was home alone all week as Chuck traveled to Germany on business, Michael went to Czech Rep. on business, and Heather was orienting a new job out of town. Heather and Michael don't live with us but I am usually hanging out at their house or they are at ours. I love having my daughter so close to be able to do crafts and run around with. Norman, OK, USA has a new JoAnn's coming to town and Heather is going to be one of the team supervisors/management types so she has been traveling around learning her job. Unfortunately time flew by and I have very little show for it.
I have finished all my doctors appointments till next month and still have no idea what the hell is going on with me besides fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, and some type of autoimmune disorder. I went to see the disability doctor and he tells me that he thinks I am early onset Parkinson's disease which I hope he doesn't know what he is talking about!!! I am concerned though because my father died from Parkinson's in 1989 and it is a genetic disease. Unfortunately all my symptoms match up with all the disorders so I will just have to wait and see until something shows up proof positive for what ails me!
Anyway enough moaning and groaning. Moving onward to the task at hand.... WOYWW...whats that you say? It is What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday where a bunch of artists/crafters fly around the world from the comfort of their computer desk. If you want more information click the link on the left or click here to go to Stamping Ground where Julia Dunnit has organized the hop from blog to blog snooping out all the fun things on peoples desks!
You can see I gave in and bought one of those big pink tape/glue gun things. Michaels had them half price on Sunday and I couldn't resist the temptation any longer. I think I will use it for my desk glue gun and continue using the Stampin Up! snail when I am out and about! I also bought a new MS punch (in the background) that was 40% off. I love bargains! I have laid out some Tim Holtz stamps to work on my Grungy Monday #2 tag as soon as I figure out how to put the tape in that gun handle. Challenges!
I took a class today with Gus (Augusta) Frank at Whole Lotta Scrap. We are making a set of canvas tiles using the Graphic 45 Springtime papers and we are taking the faeries and making transparencies out of them to use on the tiles. Here is a picture of the first one I have almost completed. I still need to put the glossy effects on the flowers and butterflies and then it will be done.
The second one isn't as far along as the canvases were back ordered and we will get them in next week. I like both of the pictures and like Gus said I can see a set of 4 or 6 in this set! I think I will use them in the bathroom where I already have faerie Wallies in place.
Okay a quick share before I quit my ramblings here...While I am trying to type this up both of my cats kept coming up to me to see what I was doing so with the awesome abilities of my iPhone 4 I took pictures of them investigating what was going on. This first picture is of Skiddy, who I would like to say is a very skiddish cat and that is how she got her name but the truth of it is she has a black "skid mark" on her private bits and my husband thought the name SKIDMARK would be appropriate! No way I say and it is shortened to Skiddy!
This second picture is of Stormy! She was given her name also by my husband because of her stormy disposition. I have never had a cat that is so vocal and constantly griping and complaining!
Okay that's it for today. I am going to go surf around the web and see what all the other peeps have lurking on their desks. Hope I haven't bored you with the gabby post. Hope you have a great week!
What adorable cats! And what a colorful desk you have! I too love a bargain!

The canvas tiles are cute, and your cats are even more so!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the canvas you've made. Specially the adorable fairies. I've also find out that crafting helps you when you don't feel very well. I hope it will help you feel a little bit better now.
ReplyDeleteAnd about the cats... our little one looks a little bit like your Skiddy. She has also a spot on her mouth.

ReplyDeleteLove your fairy creations! What a cool addition to your bathroom! I use my ATG gun at home and snail on the road too! Oh My...wishing you the best with your dr appts.
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie,
ReplyDeleteI am sending you positive thoughts and blessings in the hope that your results are something easily fixed with medication. Fingers crossed sweetie! My son (8) has juvenile arthritis and was diagnosed at 2 and a half. He has been on medication since then and has had numerous trips to hospital for joint injections and fluid drainage. Our hope is that one day he will grow out of it but the longer he suffers the less likely it seems. My lesson in all of this... stay focussed and keep positive because things could always be worse!
Hugs,

ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitty cats! I am sure that they think they are "helping"!

Beautiful fairy tiles you have made and I am curious to see the card on the very back of your desk with the green background and the orange/red flower (looks like maybe a fairy on there as well)

Love your cats! Great names and Stormy would be company for MAx next door who is always whinging and whining (and comilng round for food - now his sister, Pepsi, has joined in after about five years of keeping her distance (brother and sister Pepsi and Max - get it?)
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love your Michaels bargains - wish I was able to get things like that. Your pictures are adorable and will look lovely as a set - looking forward to seeing them in a row (or however you arrange them).
Sorry to hear about your health - sounds horrific but try not to worry. I feel awful for mentioning my problem now that you have so much going on. Hope crafting helps take your mind off it. Hugs - Neet #18
Keeping fingers and toes crossed that the Doctor knows absolutely nothing - keep your chin up whilst you're waiting to hear what is actually happening! Glad your daughter is so close geographically that you get to see lots of each other! Your desk looks fabulously busy which I love! I adore your canvas art work - absolutely stunning. Hope you have a positive week! Sending cyber hugs!

Great desk, I'm loving all the paints on the right side of your photo, very yummy!!!!
ReplyDeleteAh Vickie, how nice to see you! Lovely photos. Am so sorry about the lack of positives in terms of your illness...don't worry about the odd complaint, good grief, mostly it's worry huh, we need a hook to hang everything on before we can start to deal with it. Ha! You caved in and bought a tape monster - bet you'll grow to love it..I'm nearly there! Love the canvas tiles, really pretty.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry that you are still having so many health problems. You must be so frustrated. Don't think too much about your father. There have been a lot of great strides made in the treatment of Parkinson's in recent years, which make life so much better for sufferers. Keep positive and that will help a lot, and choose your research websites carefully. You have so much to keep positive for, your family and friends, and of course your crafting to lose yourself in. Those tiles look lovely (I love the flower fairies), and your crafting buddies are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove your crafty space, looks crammed with lots of lovely goodies! Really like the canvas tiles, I've not seen those before. Nice to see you have a couple of little helpers keeping you company :) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat Bargains You found There! And Beautiful Cats!

Sorry to hear things are not looking positive with your health. Try not to read too much into it, keep positive! Sending you hugs! What a bargain with your ATG. If you pop the lid open there is a diagram on the inside. I love mine but it is heavy to take around so I have a smaller one which stays in my tote bag. Thanks for visiting and your kind words. Just trying to figure out how to carry a cuppa with crutches! This could be interesting (and messy!!) Happy crafting!!
ReplyDeleteHugs xx

LOVE that pink tape gun!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me x
You will love your tape gun! It may be hard to open to refill the first time or three, but it is not defective! ...just a tight hinge. However, if you are a lefty (like me) there is a bit of a learning curve as the tape is on the far side of the gun. Love the fairy tiles! Too cute!!!
ReplyDeleteNice Desk full of crafty goodies.
ReplyDeleteLovely Pic's of your Cat's hope you feel better soon.
Crafty Kaz.
You will really love that tape gun... I finally got one too about 6-months ago after debating for over 2-years.... It just looked sooooo BIG...but it really is very easy to use and after you change the tape a few times it's very easy too.

Such a busy desk today. Must try those canvas's soon. Of course the fairy one is my fave. Thanks for visiting me earlier. Oh, must not forget the furry babies, since I have one of my own. They are funny little creatures with minds of their own. LOL #114
ReplyDeleteYou will love that gun - I have got soo use to it - putting the tape in is quite easy - also there is a very good video on how to do it on the internet! Your desk is sooo interesting - so many things I spot and I WANT ha, ha....your cats are lovely! Sorry to hear about your health problems - I am sure it won't be as bad as you think it is! ReplyDeleteYour tiles are looking beautiful, there is so much detail on them.
ReplyDeleteWhat brilliant names for your cats and they are very handsome too. We have two kitties too and one is extrememly vocal complaining like mad when it's time for bed. The other is huge but very timid!!
