Since this is WOYWW I guess I should talk about my desk. If you would like to know why we are here on WOYWW check out Julia's blog Stamping Ground and she will show you how you too can participate in the weekly round of blog hopping! My desk today...
Not a good picture cause I had to take it with the light on and with flash but it is the best I can do. I have been doing some more Halloween type projects and you can see the two witches hats in the photo but since they aren't done we won't focus on them!
I just finished a tag for an Anything Goes Halloween swap on ATT and got it in the mail to its recipient today. I love this stamp set by Tim Holtz and Stampers Anonymous called The Chemist and using some of the Tim Holtz dies and ephemera to create the tag.
The Chemist set used to make a Halloween tag. I think it worked! |
I love all the new things I am finding in the jewelry making aisle at Micheal's recently...a good example are these little clock faces! I have looked all over for more of the Tim Holtz Halloween tags but so far no luck. Anyone know of a store still selling them?
I used the Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers's bottle dies to cut the bottles out of grunge board. I painted them a silver color then put bottle stickers on them and covered them with Glossy Accents glaze and Crackle Glaze. I like the way it cracked but some of the crackle glazed ones just rolled the label up as it started to dry. The clear ones stayed just fine.
Another project I worked on this past week was my painted rock cactus garden. What do you think?
My husband is always looking out for me and he saw a link on Facebook and thought they were awesome! I think they turned out very nice and I have enough rocks I might make another!
Okay that's it for me! Hope you have a great week and I look forward to reading peoples posts this week!
It's such a pain when health issues get in the way of living the life you'd choose. Really hope the next week is a better one for you. Those painted pebbles are a real bit of fun :-)

A beautiful tag and I love your rock garden. At first I thought they were soap.
ReplyDeleteGreat art and I LOVE the rock garden. How cool! Glad you are finding fun stuff at Micheal's in the jewelry department. I had to ban myself from those isles a couple years ago. However if you have a JoAnne's fabric store where you live, or you can go online, they have started carrying some great art, jewelry and stamping supplies! Have a wonderful evening and hope you feel better. I have been having more flare ups lately and several more new health issues that have popped up. We just have to do what we can with what we have. Big soft hugs, Rasz!
ReplyDeleteYour desk looks great! And I'm loving the rock cactus. They need less water than real cactus. I hope you feel better soon. April #62
ReplyDeleteGreat tag and how fun is your rock cactus they never need to be watered hugs Nikki C 8
ReplyDeleteVickie, your Halloween tag turned out fabulous, what great details! And your rock cactus is so much fun, and really, the only kind of cactus I would want in my house . . .
ReplyDeleteOkay, just so you know, I'm a lil' bit jealous you have grandbaby #3 on the way. My grandma clock began ticking as soon as the two oldest sons/dils had their first anniversaries . . . ****sigh****

Well considering you're not feeling good, you seem to have done just great - love the cactus garden and the Halloween tag too! Take care, Helen 5
ReplyDeleteHi!!! I sooo hear you on the "working with what you got" mentality!! It's been a rough bit for me too, but I'm trying to push through it - some days wind up better than others. *sigh* LOVE your cactus garden - so cute! Everything else is darling too. You inspire me!! :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Crafting!

OMG, I love that painted cactus garden, what a fab idea....how fun is that?! That made me smile sooo much, it really cheered me up. I reckon you should do some more!!
ReplyDeleteLove your steampunky bits and pieces on the tags too, it's amazing how easy it is to find all the gears, cogs and clock faces these days. Hope your recipient likes it!
And I'm sorry you're not feeling great. It must be tough dealing with the ups and downs of your condition....keep smiling and crafting :-)
Hugs, LLJ 23 xx
Hello!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and your kind comment! I love your tag and the cactus is a great idea! I see your workdesk is filled with wonderful projects - good luck with your witch hats! Wishing you a happy day!
Hugs,
Barbara Diane
Wishing you well....It's a bummer not to feel good...I've too many places to go and too many things too do to tolerate it. Love your little cactus rocks. Cute tag too. Has been cool here, or should I say COLD. Hoping for a few more warm days.
ReplyDeleteAt least you can't kill those cactus! I manage to drown or drought mine...never too sure how much or little water to give them! I am late to visit as I had a self inflicted deadline to achieve...#19
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my page. Sorry to hear you're not feeling well at the moment. But you have the right attitude. Concentrate on what you can do, not on what you can't.
ReplyDeleteYour cactus garden is awesome! I really like that idea. And I love the tags too. I love steampunky things.
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder,
Have a good week (or at least a better week)

ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late - lots of lovely busy's going on there. The rock cacti are great! I hope you're feeling better by now, and the rest of the week goes really well. Hugs, Chris # 16
ReplyDeleteThat rock cactus garden is so cute! and a busy desk you have. Sorry you're still dealing with the health issues but I know they are an on-going challenge for you. Sending hugs and Creative Blessings! Kelly #56
ReplyDeleteI love the cactus garden, so fun and so entirely less maintenance than a real cactus! *cough* So sorry you aren't feeling great at the moment, wish I could help ya out with that ONE pill...if I could, I would. Yeah, think the tag nailed it, it's fab. Are you a teeny pinhead then, or is the witches hat a bit on the ornamental size?!
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie
ReplyDeleteGreat projects you've been working on .... Love the rock garden.
To answer your question about the brewery it was the Corrs brewery near Denver. It was great.
Janet
I love your cactus garden, Vickie - until you said they were rocks, I didn't know what you'd made them from! I love how you've painted the flowers on. It's really fun! Also low maintenance lol!! Nice busy desk too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment - yes, I do seem to be getting through a bit more at the moment but I have days when I'm crashed out on the recliner unable to do anything. I soooo get where you are coming from about the brainfog and the flares - it's horrible isn't it, when it stops you doing what you want to do, although I do find if I'm foggy enough, I don't seem to mind because I can't actually think about it! Wouldn't it be nice to have one pill to take? One day, maybe... That being said, if I hadn't been ill, I wouldn't have started doing art in earnest and I would never have "met" all of you, so on balance I'm pretty happy about it!!
Glad you like the felt and my album pages. I am pretty pleased with them myself! I'm working on another project at the moment (paper art) that I won't be able to show on next week's WOYWW as it's secret till after that!
You can get things a lot cheaper if you look outside the art/craft market. The pen misters I've got on order were from a bottle supplier. I use Polyfilla (joint compound) instead of expensive moulding paste, and free roofing felt for Tyvek! There are usually alternatives. I've also painted with emulsion and used decorator's crackle glaze (although white glue will do just as well for that).
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #37
Hi Vickie
ReplyDeleteHey those cactus are really cute! But I love your tag! It's quirky without being too "Halloweenish" :) (cos we don't really do Halloween here).
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are having a good weekend!
I love your cactus, they are so cool. Such a great idea. Your tag is just gorgeous and those little bits and bobs are fantastic. It is amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week,
