WOYWW #175

I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and good wishes last week.  I am still having the same issues but doing better over all.  This just something I have to learn to live with and put up with flares from time to time but it really gets me down!  Anyway on to the real reason for this post!

Want to see desks in various sorts of disarray?  Click on this link and it will take you to the Land of Awes cause there is all sorts of nifty neat desks to snoop through and drool over.  Ms Julia Dunnit is the magnificent wizard in the wondrous Land of Awes and puts on a hop each Wednesday!  I have been really busy trying to get some of the swaps out that I have been doing for various groups so my desk is suffering to say the least.  I love playing with the inks and stamps but it is a real pain in the patoote to clean it all up again!!

playing with punches, inks and glues...oh my lots of fun!
I signed up to do several swaps this month cause I wanted to stay busy and thought with a little challenge and prompting I could do anything...right!  I don't know what my problem is but nothing looks right to me and I just want to file 13 everything this week.  I have posted several different ATC on the past posts.
A little on the spooky cutesy side.  I could not make up my mind what I wanted to do on this tag either.  BUT I persevered and kept on making it...I decided I am not going to let the Mojo go walk about I am just going to keep on playing till it kicks back in!
Speaking of spooky!  See what I found when I went out to do a little pool work the other day!  See her abdomen is loaded with little bitty baby spiders.  This a common garden variety spider around this part of the states called a Wolf Spider.  Wikipedia  says they can be found just about anywhere in the world in one form or another.
This old girl was floating around in the pool so I rescued her and set her out to dry.  I would guesstimate her to be about 2.5-3 inched long from the tip of her hind leg to the tip of her front leg.  When we lived in Kansas City we had a Wolf Spider that lived in an old wood burner in the woods behind our house that was about the size of a cup saucer.  I exaggerate not, my DH says that I do, but this thing was huge!  It was there for years and years and had loads of babies.  The life span of a Wolf Spider is about 5 years...lots of babies.  Their bite is not particularly poisonous but they do bite and it hurts!!

Okay short and sweet...for me!  I am off to surf the web and visit a few blogs.  Have a great week!

  1. Hi Vicki,

That was a nice little surprise to find floating in the pool, we tend to get a lot of huntsmen spiders here in my part of Oz and hubby who is petrified of spiders is always the one to find them.....
I love your skeleton tag, love the spider layer behind the skeleton....

  3. Hi Vicki! You desk is so tidy and organised and yet you have neatly crammed so much lovely stash there... I always adore the ribbons. Keep going with your crafting, you're doing well and just don't let that mojo escape or the wolf spider might get it. As a rule I really don't mind spiders but I wouldn't be picking up that girl!!!

  4. Wow that is some desk and a half. Love all the ribbons and I use the same trimmer, don't know where I'd be without it. I got the LO hanger idea from a letter in a magazine, it is great and afraid the envelope is just a bag to decorate not a book. Thanks for stopping by BJ#24

  5. Just had to click that spider off - ugh! Thanks for the share though and the knowledge - hard to imagine one as big as a saucer - double ugh!
Glad you are feeling a bit better and that tag is great - bet it would look lush in lime green too.
    Thanks for sharing -

  7. Hello Vickie, I was fine until I saw that spider, I am with Eels above, I just cannot like them. I always love visiting your desk, so much to see, I am sure your ribbons are growing! I am with you on the flare ups, have RA and not in a good place at the mo, but crafting certainly helps. Had a look through all your Halloween makes and they are all fabulous. Wish we did more for Halloween here in the UK. Have a happy WOYWW, Anne x #60

  8. How gracious of you to save the spider from drowning - hope you don't get bitten by her or the babies to come as a reward for your services! I love the tag - so glad you persevered! I had a similar thing with pushing on through when I was feeling mojo-low, and ended up with something I rather liked! Happy WOYWW!

  10. Gosh aren't we all our own worst critics/enemies! Know exactly what you mean about getting through a project and still feeling undecided about it. If in doubt you can always go back to it or use it as a kickstart for another project. Hope you have a good week. Hugs, Buttons #82

  18. Oh my giddy aunt, that spider is freaky. I'm afraid I think I would've ran the opposite way. Great desk that always looks so colourful. Sorry to hear you've not been so good, I can empathise as you know it's not so good here either. Thanks for popping by earlier. Take care Zo xx 84

  19. Flip me! That spider is HUGE! I'm not really scared of spiders but I did blink a little when I saw it! Gosh! Glad we don't have ones like that here - though some of the Daddy Long Legs (Crane Fly) in my house would rival that spider in size!!! Happy Wednesday! #42

  21. Certainly a well-used desk this week Vickie. I think we could all do with a visit from the cleaning fairies after a crafting marathon, don’t you?
Love the tag but not the spider and the thought of having a 5 inch spider I my back garden just terrifies me.

    Happy Crafting!

  22. You and Shaz from Oz are on the same wavelength this week with your spiders. You are welcome to them, especially ones that bite. Our huge spiders are bad enough, especially at this time of year when they are trying to find a warm home for the winter. Hope you are soon feeling a bit better, and your flare up dies down fast. Does the weather affect the problem. I suffer from arthritis and low pressure and damp weather really inflames it. Have a good week. xx Maggie #88

  23. Oh I'm so glad to live in cold, wet, dark Northern Ireland - at least we don't have great big, horrible spiders (or snakes!) - I'd run a mile if I met one of those! You have a busy desk this week - glad you're well enough to get back to some crafting.

  24. Hi Vickie - how kind you are to rescue the spider - I hope she appreciated it and tells all her babies that you and yours are off limits if they are feeling peckish!! Did you at all consider using her as an embellishment on your fab tag!! ;-) Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 57

  26. I love you lol, I have those spiders too and go out of my way to save them as well. Seems such a waste to kill something that's beneficial and just lovely. My house is made of log and we live in the woods but not the mountains, though I wouldn't mind. Thanks for the visit and I love your tag!!!

I bet they freak!!! LOL!! I can't believe you saved it! I would have called an ambulance for me (because i would surely be having a heart attack), and the police for that spider!!
    OK, back to the party!!
I'm sorry you are down. I know, the flares are awful. You are strong, I know you will get your mojo back!! I love that tag and I'm happy you decided to keep going! It is awesome!

  44. OK, you will laugh, but I saw the photo before I read the pos, and I didn't think anything of the spider - for some reason my brain saw it and processed it as a napkin ring Halloween decoration!!

  47. Happy WOYWW. Health - something that so many people don't think about, lucky things! It is wonderful that we have crazy crafting/blogging to keep us occupied and distracted when the pain/fatigue/other symptoms try to take over. I spent 3 hours today attempting to sort out my new pens - and that distracted me from feeling sick! I hate spiders, so your last piccie made me scream. Ali x #67

  55. Wow to that spider! I clicked on it to make it bigger, such detail!! Glad to hear you're feeling better, your condition is so hard to control, I have a friend who suffers with similar things unfortunately. I like a bit of peace and quiet time on my own to be honest, so I don't mind him being gone for a month, although I wouldn't be taking out walls in his absence!! That wool I'm using is Red Heart Heart and Sole in Toasted Almond, love the way it's knitting up. I love your spooky atc, he looks great to me!

  64. Wow - such an amazing and fascinating shot! We have Wolf Spiders here in the UK, but ours are darker with longer legs.... I can tolerate spiders, but absolutely loathe their webs (on account of a getting a faceful in my garden growing up, everytime I got on my bike! LOL). The only spiders that creep me out are Glass Spiders, horrid leggy things but they have their own oddity in that they carry their eggs around in their pedipalps like a small ball...

    Have a good week...
