WOYWW #106

The weather has not been cooperating with me tonight! We got a severe thunderstorm through here at about 7:30 pm and it knocked power out for over 4 1/2 hours. It started out with a lot of thunder and lightening and then to liven things up a bit we were hit with 55-60 mile per hour winds and hail the size of marbles and a friend measured some at her house that was over 2 1/2 inches in diameter. I haven't heard the official rain total but I would imagine it was at least 1 1/2-2 inches in about an hours time. I ended up cooking supper by candle light and we ate supper at about 10:45!

I had planned on showing some pictures of the flower and vegetable garden tonight but didn't get pictures before the storm and after the storm every plant in the garden had been shredded. My husband had some beautiful corn, beans, squash, and tomato plants but alas no longer! I haven't been able to do any crafting this week but was going to start a project tonight and now without electricity I don't have light to do any work. I took these photos of my craft room using flash so I can show you something of what I am doing. I am so excited that it is starting to come together!

First off here is a picture of my desk this week. You aren't going to believe how little is actually cluttering it up!! Surprise! If you didn't make it to my blog last week I told everyone I had decided to stay in the smaller room but due to space issues I am putting in new storage drawers/shelves etc.
This second picture is of the closet that I put a shelf unit and a couple of the plastic 4 drawer bins in, stacking them so I could have more space for my 'stuff'. I decided to move the paint bottle rack to the closet because I needed the space for my stamp pads that I use more then the paint.
I am not finished with the closet yet as I want to organized some of the things a little different but decided to put stuff in the approximate position it will end up in the end so I can keep shifting stuff around. I have so much 'stuff' that I am seriously thinking about unloading some of it on eBay!

If you have made it this far in the post you are probably wondering what all this is about! WOYWW is the brain child of Miss Julia Dunnitt at Stamping Ground. Every week I travel the globe looking at the desks of other crafters/artists without leaving the comfort of my desk chair. Check it out! Click the link and get ready for a ride of a lifetime. I am off to check out the blogs. Check back later and I promise I will have 'created' something.

  12. We are also having a storm at the moment, though nothing as serious as yours, just wind and rain. I was crafting by two florescent re-chargeable camping lights in desperation a few weeks ago... I love re-organizing, makes me feel so good, I also life finding the things I had forgotten about in my stash.

  14. What a shame about the vegie garden, the weather has been really terrible this year hasn't it? Love how all of your organizing is coming along, you could always put your unused stuff on your blog for a while, some of us might want it!! I bought stamps off Ciara (Ribena Room) recently after she did that.

  25. How frustrating it must be to have all your plants destroyed in such a short time. Hope you can soon get the garden (and your desk) into productivity and beauty again. Thank you for your visit and kind comments, Vickie.

  27. Hi there Vickie, well we have had our share of rain over 400 mm in five days which is over 16 inches and flooding down south and north so it will mean a blocked highway for five days and no mail and no pIf till at least Monday at a guess...but feel so very very sad about all your plants! Floods to me are an inconvenience but I am not thankfully in flood zone - we had wind and thunder and lightening too but thankfully also are rid of all our large trees around us now... last one went last year when it contracted white ants!!happy WOYWW and so well done on your clean u and tidy I so need to do that.. 30. Hi Vicki. When I first read through your post I had visions of you actually cooking your diner over a candle and thought no wonder you didn’t eat until 10.45, then the penny dropped……..what am I like Lol!
I don’t like storms at the best of times and would have been hiding in or under something so I really feel for you having to experience such fierce ones…….glad we don’t get them like that over here too often.
The re-organisation of your stash looks to be going well, keep up the good work.

    Happy Crafting!

  35. wow, can't believe the weather so sorry you lost your garden. do you have time to replant or is it to late in the season? we've had unusual weather this spring also. a lot of gardens just didn't get planted because of the cold and rain. those that did aren't doing well. maybe mother nature is trying to tell us something.

your work space is really coming together.

  36. A few days sunshine and your veggies will probably come good - mine never got planted this year, OH been having health issues and hasn't really been up to the heavy stuff so haven't been able to plant much.
