WOYWW #148

This has been another busy week for me and Wednesday seems like yesterday and it is here again today! No I am not nuts...yet just a little on the confusing side! I post every Wednesday about my desk and visit desks all around the world from the comfort of my desk chair. With the price of gasoline now days that is the only way to travel. Here in Oklahoma gas is $3.75 per gallon at some of the pumps and we shouldn't complain about that because a friend of mine in the UK posted today that gas there is between $11-12 per gallon. That would definitely put a damper on getting around and about each day. If you would like to travel about and visit desks of other artists and crafters head over to the starting point and visit with Julia at Stamping Ground and she will tell you how to get about!

My desk today is pretty cluttered with nothing to show you on it. I have started cleaning it up after my last project and will finish it up after I get done posting tonight so it will be ready for a new project tomorrow.
Does anyone besides me have problems with throwing out the little bits and pieces that are left after doing a project. I keep little things like a brad, a die cut flower, a this or a that knowing I will use it but I usually end up tossing it in the trash when I get tired of moving it around on my desk. Any suggestions on what to do with the 'bits and bobs' when they are one of a kind and need a home?
I am doing a tag glass this next week and gave up the tags before I had a chance to photograph them to show you. Here is a picture Nita put on the store blog to show people what they would be doing. There are several new techniques I picked up from Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 101 class that I did over the past two weeks and I decided to share them with my class.

I also made a couple of tags from a tag I saw on his blog. I love the little felted Easter bunnies.

I am really excited to that today my first project for Ten Second Studios will be posted today! Remember the tease from WOYWW last week? Well here is your chance to see the finished project. I will also be posting a little later so drop by and check it out.
I am outta here! I am off to wander around the world and visit the other desks of WOYWW participants. Everyone have a great week.

Purple hair and attitude

For those of you who don't already know I have decided at 60 years (almost) of age I would start coloring my hair...most people are really really interesting to watch when they first catch sight of my new hairdo and allow their mouths to flop open. Why would their mouths take on a pose of a goldfish out of water gulping air? Well I told the girl at the salon I wanted something different done to my hair and after a half hour of me trying to convince her I wasn't insane and did truly want my hair dyed purple she cut it and dyed it! No way Jose will I be one of those lavender haired matrons that wear the styled and spritzed hair of a dowager matron! I am starting into a second childhood and I am going to do it up good! I told my daughter the purple hair is actually an external manifestation of an internal modification in my way of thinking. An attitude adjustment so to speak. It has been a hell of a couple years for me and all the life changes I have gone through and I just decided I choose what I want to think and be like so I choose purple hair and an upbeat attitude. No it doesn't wash out so it is there to stay for awhile. I like it. I feel good with it!
My daughter and I went to see Mirror Mirror with Julia Roberts playing the Evil Queen who uses magic to marry the King and rules the kingdom with little thought for the peasants she rules over. Lily Collins plays the Princess who ends up leaving the castle and meeting up with the rowdy bunch Dwarfs residing in the forest. I really enjoyed the show and thought Julia Roberts did a great job as an Evil Queen! It was very entertaining and oh so funny in spots. Purple hair, attitude adjustments, and fairy tales. Now didn't I tell you I am going into a second childhood?
Don't forget to come back here on Wednesday and check out the first project I have done for Ten Seconds Studio! I have really had a lot of fun playing with the projects for this month.

WOYWW #147

This has been an absolutely busy week for me and I have no pictures to show of my desk because it is covered with the design team work and I can't show it until it shows on the team sites. I will give you a sneaky peek of one of the projects that is almost completed.
Oh my what could this be? Don't you hate teases?

I have been having so much fun trying out the new product and creating fun things to share that the week has passed by quickly. I am sorry if I didn't make it around to your desk last week and I promise to try and do better this week. Wondering what all this desk business is about? Go to Stamping Ground and Ms Julia the original desk snoop Queen will show you the ropes.

A cute add on picture to share this morning. Create with Joy has Wordless Wednesday and I took this picture of my fur baby vying for attention with the WOYWW blog hop and she jumped up on the desk in front of the screen and started scratching at it with her paw then turned around to look at me as if to say, 'come one Momma I have read that part!' Stormy is my vocal baby and 'talks' all the time...what's scary is that I can understand her most times!

Have a great week and hopefully I will have more to share next week.

WOYWW #146

Happy Wednesday everyone! It has been a busy week for me and yet I have nothing to show for it so to speak. I wasn't able to get around to everyone's desk again last week but tried to do the best I could and then Google decided not to let me post on several so...Better luck this week. Wonder whats up? You need to go to Stamping Ground the blog of Ms. Julia Dunnit and see what all the talk is about WOYWWW and why I am putting my desk out there for everyone to see!

Here is what my desk looks like today! Recognize anything?
I went shopping this afternoon at my local scrapbook store and look what I came home with...OMG! I brought home stuff for future classes and stuff for me to use but OMG! I just love all this stuff!

Over on the right side of my desk you can see the cover to my newest chipboard scrapbook.
This is actually a much bigger undertaking then anything I have ever made and it was all started when I watched a video someone put a link to here on WOYWW! I actually have the cover and the first couple of pages done but there is still a lot to be done till it is finished. I will photograph the book when I am done and do a post on it soon. I really like the look of what I have done so far!

I love the Wizard of Oz and grew up anticipating the rerun each year on TV. I love these awesome papers too from Graphic 45 depicting the characters and events in the book.

Another 'thing' I found at Michael's on sale, plus I had a coupon for 15% off total order were these suitcases! They were a promotional so I got all 3 for less then $30. They are earmarked to hold some of my excess stash till I need it. I buy when on sale and stock up so...

Here is my stash of Liquid Pearls and Perfect Pearls in the smallest box.

Well back to work. I am working on projects right now for both the Ten Second Studio Design Team in April and stuff for a class at Whole Lotta Scrap here in Norman, OK. I have had several requests for a basic class so I thought I would do a couple hours for a couple of weeks to introduce people to the different mediums and techniques they need to know to do vintage and grunge style art. Any ideas of what you think I should include in my class?

Ten Second Studio Design Team

Woo-Hoo! I have some exciting news to share! I was chosen by Cheryl and Meagan at Ten Second Studios to be one of their monthly guest designers! When they put out the call for people to apply for the design team I didn't think I stood a chance but I love their products and projects and decided to give it a try! Over 1000 very talented people heard the call which makes me humble to think that I was one of the ones chosen! Starting the first Thursday of April (and every Thursday in April) I will making projects to be displayed on the TSS site.

I have always been a crafter and loved to sew but now I actually give thanks for the medical problems that allow me to stay home and play all day. I have found a whole new life, friends, and ways of expressing myself since retiring. Due to my medical training I have found I bring a lot of detail into my work. I started out as a scrapbooker/paper crafter in 2008 and have expanded over the past few years into a multimedia crafter/artist. I am willing to give any medium a try and have a blast learning new techniques. My favorites right now are grunge and vintage works. I like to recycle or reuse found items like toilet paper rolls, whiskey packing containers, cigar boxes etc. As most of you know I am at my happiest getting all inky and covered in paints and glue!

There will be a a new guest designer every month so follow along and check out all the awesome projects we will be doing.

WOYWW #145

I have some good news to share but can't tell anyone right now...Oh WOW! It is so hard to keep a secret! Enough wiggling and giggling and on to the reason of this post!

Welcome to my blog. This is Wednesday so this post must be about WOYWW! Whats WOYWW you say? Well click this link and be transported across the pond to Julia's blog Stamping Ground! and she will appease your curiosity! I guarantee you a good time!

This is my workspace today...What a mess! I will be cleaning it up a bit in the morning cause I have some projects to make for...shhh! Anyway it will be getting sorted out post haste!

Sorry about the picture quality the battery is dead on my good camera and my cell phone struggles in artificial light! Lots of fun things on my desk to look at tonight. I received my WOYWW button from Julia today and I was oh so excited to get it! Thank you Julia! I went to a class tonight and started scrapbooking again. I decided I need to try and get some pages made so I can send them to the kids at Christmas and they can put whatever pictures in them they want to. I love the book they gave us that has all sorts of layouts in it cause that is my main problem with scrapbooking is figuring out where to put what!! In the upper right you will notice a trinket chest I found at the local hardware store. They were billing it as a sewing box but I am in the process of altering it to hold my grunge and ideology bits and pieces.

I thought I would share this tag with you tonight. It is another of the stained glass/mosaic butterflies that Sir Timmie introduced us to this month. So much fun making them! Stampin'Up! makes this gorgeous doily stamp and another stamp sets of nothing but doilies that I think I am going to be using a lot. I just love the black lace look on the manilla tag...Yummy and rich looking. Wish I could photograph it like it really looks.

Well I guess I will call it done for the night and go to bed! It is 2:00am here and I am tired tonight. I didn't get the opportunity to visit all the blogs last week so I am going to try hard to do so tomorrow. Have a great week.

Easter Tags

Everyone likes Chocolate Easter bunnies right? I do!!! I decided to use the Tim Holtz Bunny dies and make a couple Easter tags the other day. I love the big die but it is really big on a tag and dominates it so I had to make one using the smaller Mover and Shaper bunny too.
This Bunny was cut out of the Chocolate Chip Stampin Up! cardstock and mounted on a tag from the Core'dinations Distress Cardstock pad. I can't remember the name of the manufacturer of the print paper but it fit well with the colors I chose.

I was playing around with attempting to do a sky with clouds and came up with this tag. I still have a lot to learn but it was fun making this tag. I love the little Mover and Shapers bunny and he looks like he is guarding the bling egg!

I am going to teach these two tags and the one from the previous post to a class in Norman this Thursday. I hope they like them!
