WOYWW #150

Woo Hoo! Wednesday again and you know what that means right? WOYWW!! I always look forward to Wednesday and getting my next fix of blogs. I appreciate that a lot of people have taken the person vs robot otherwise known as word verification off your comments but last week I hit 5 in a row and I quit leaving comments unless you commented on my blog. I think my medications are affecting me and I have been a little short tempered so I didn't comment on your blog last week I will try and do so this week. Okay you say what are you talking about? Whats On Your WorkDesk Wednesday (WOYWW) silly...still clueless? Check out Julia's blog Stamping Ground and she will tell you how you too can participate.

This is a picture of my desk this week. It is a mess. I have started working on a couple projects today one is a chunky ATC for a swap and the clock face is for a canvas I am making and I cut it out of brass metal with the Tim Holtz Weathered Clock die and it didn't cut very well so I had to clip at it with a blade and scissors to get the Roman numbers cut out. It looked a mess so I ran it through an embossing folder in hopes that the pokey bits from cutting would lay flat cause my fingers are shredded.

As you can see from the desk being loaded up I need more room as the 12" of crafting space is too small for the big altered projects and my journaling so sometime this week I am going to start my switching of rooms. I can't find anything and I don't have enough shelving and drawers to put everything in so some stuff just sits about and gets knocked about, crumpled up, and messed up or worse forgotten about and I end up going out and buying more only to find it later. I only have what amounts to one shelving unit so more is definitely needed.

Did everyone see my previous weeks post about the rusted box card? Check it out it is really cool. That was week number 2 and the third one will be posting at noon Wednesday so by my calculations I only have one more week as this months guest designer at Ten Seconds Studio. I have really enjoyed stretching a bit and getting out of the old comfort zone to make these things. I love metal working, paper arts, painting, and altering items so this has been a lot of fun for me. It has gone fast and I am sad that it is almost over!

For this weeks project for TSS I got busy with the VerDay Paints and Patina on metals and cardstock and had a blast making flowers. Here is a sneak peak to entice you to come back and check it out. I love making flowers so I thought a tutorial for making flowers would be good.

Hope you like it! I am going to go blog hopping and see what some of the peeps are up to before going to bed. Have a great week.

  1. Hi Vickie - it has been a pleasure to see your makes in metal - some gorgeous work there - well done! Can understand why your fingers are bad at the moment, it does take its toll on you.
Lovely busy desk - do you mean move everything? Good luck if you do.

  6. Hi lovely busy space there but I know what you mean about running out of storage space - I have left my craft room (which became a shared study/craft room) and am now camped in my dining room - makes the dining room cluttered but at least I have more space to spread out! Love the stuff you are making and love the Ten Studios design stuff you have made. Thanks for commenting on my blog and enjoy getting your new stash tomorrow! have fun :)

  11. That flower is amazing. I had to re-instate moderation after a batch of not very nice hackers. I realise it can be a bug bear but I also think it's rude to ask people to remove their security. After all, they have their reasons for using it. Hope you understand and no offence intended.

  13. OOh, Vickie, love that metallic flower - it's pretty yet dangerous all in one go :) I love anything metallic, guess that's why steampunk floats my boat!
You're right, the raised beds are for veg - I'm not growing onions this year as some fungus got them last time. But I grow lots of different beans, greens, salad stuff etc. I've inherited my dad's green fingers and can just about grow anything from seed..but I'm rubbish at taking cuttings! I am never happier than when I'm in my garden covered in mud :)

That metallic flower is stunning, I love it. It'd make a gorgeous garden ornament, I love sculpture bits and pieces in my garden.

  15. A lovely creative desk, as usual. Good luck with the move to your new crafting space. I am so looking forward to getting my proper storage, but it is at least 2 years away - so for now I just ignore the mess and keep crafting! I have been really grumpy recently as well - rubbish weather, more pain than usual and a desperate need for a holiday/new body. Happy WOYWW. Ali x # 78

  17. It usually takes me three attempts with the verification and it makes me grumpy too, but I guess some people have it for a reason, I got a really scary message last week on my blog. That metal flower is just fabulous! Happy WOYWW from Anne #30

  24. Oh, Vickie, best of luck with the room move. I had the same frustration of not finding things until I went with the open metal Metro-style racks. Now I can see just about everything. If you are looking for more furniture in a "frugal way", check out Craigslist.com. There should be one in or near Norman. That's how I got my 60 x 36 work table for $25. It's first life was someone's kitchen table. :)

    Cheers,
Susan #108-ish and loving the teal chunky ATC block!

Did you run the die through a couple of times? I've only used mine once, but I recall having to run it through more than once to get clean cuts all around.

Good luck with moving all your stuff and btw I totally agree on word verification, total waste of time and I also get pretty impatient with it. Some peeps have it on though without knowing. I thought I had mine turned off until someone told me it was on again.....

Have a great week and enjoy this special WOYWW!

  29. Hello Vickie, I can feel the frustration in your post. I think I may have had the dreaded word verification on last week but it was blogger's fault, truly! I'd switched to the new interface and didn't realise that blogger had sneakily changed my settings. It should be sorted now but if not do contact me and let me know and I'll go in again and see what's what. WF isn't the only thing that's contributing to your frustration though ... and you are not the only WOYWWer complaining of lack of space today, there's a few more out there. Good luck with the changeover, you'll find it much better once the job is done ... I know I love my new bigger crafting space. Happy WOYWW and I hope you have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #27

  40. I am sooo with you on the word verification. If i"m on my ipad, I can't even read the letters. I quit commenting on those blogs too, sadly you have to type the comment before you even know if it's there. They drive me CRAZY...I admit, it is a short ride... Love your work, I'm going to go pay close attention to how you're doing this. Match box die....I need to find that one.

OMGee, am worried about your energy levels if you're taking the bull by thE horns to move to a new space.....theres no better time to do it though, than when your current space is making you fed up. Good luck, enjoy, and don't over do it!

  55. Vickie, I'm loving the direction your work is going in at the moment - really cool metal effects! Hope your move to your new creative space goes well.

Thanks for your lovely comment on my blog. Actually, the zentangling part of the project didn't take that long, but the initial drawing took ages as I needed to do a lot of measuring and plotting of reference points to get the face exactly right. I really enjoyed doing it and I must admit I'm pretty pleased with the result!

I was so thrilled to receive the lovely gift. The card is so beautifully made and will be kept forever! I wanted to bless this very special pair of ladies - the daughter (my friend) is very poorly with M.E. and dystonia, and her mum (the crafter) looks after her a lot of the time - they need all the "lifts" in their life that they can possibly get, and I certainly didn't want (or expect) anything in return!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  59. Hiya Vickie

I have a very weird habit of going backwards through peoples' blogs and commenting, so apologies in advance!LOL...

Your desk looks rather creative and considering what you have been working on recently - its spot on. I do wonder where you were when you took the photo, it looks rather like you were suspended from the ceiling in order to take it... (only pulling your leg).

I hope you are well and that your frustrations aren't related to you feeling unwell or in pain - I have similar days when everything feels against me, but its my blogging friends and being able to chat with someone who understands what we go through that makes me feel I'm 'normal' - well, my normal lol.

Keep on trouping through - drop me a line if you feel like venting your issues...

    big hugs
