The red squares

On my WOYWW post yesterday I showed a picture of some grunge board and everyone was wanting to know what they would look like when I was done with them.  So without further ado here is the whole lot of them done!

There are a total of 30- 2" x 2" squares that are part of a Christmas Patchwork Swap that is a swap on All Things Tim.  Each canvas is 12" x 12" and there are 27 squares or rectangles that make up the larger piece.  I got one of the smallest sizes to make and it was really difficult deciding what to make because it can't over lap onto the square next to it.

The squares were cut from grunge board then colored with Festive Berries distress ink.  The flowers came in a package out of a dollar bin from Michael's and I distressed the edges with the Festive Berries ink.  The flowers had some seed beads and glitters glued on them to give them a bit of sparkle.

Here is one up close!

You can see the embossing on the grunge board and the clear sparkly beads on the flower.  It was fun making these but I am still not in the mood for Christmas!

WOYWW #173

Once again it is a short week...WOW!  Seems like just yesterday or maybe just a couple hours ago since I was posting on WOYWW!  What's WOYWW?  WHY do I keep posting about it?  Well cause I love it and I am so addicted to it time flys by faster then usual.  Wondering if I have lost touch with reality?  Go see What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday's home base over on Julia's blog, Stamping Ground and you will see what I mean!

First off I want to tell you our trip to Missouri was great fun and we enjoyed spending the time with Betty Jo and doing some fun crafting thing.  Unfortunately due to a semiannual crop in the area on the weekend we were there we had a poor turn out at Betty's stamping party.   Betty, Heather, and I agreed that we had a blast even if the turnout was poor and would do it all over in a heartbeat.  I always enjoy taking a road trip with my daughter cause she is so easy to travel with and has a lot of interests similar to mine.

I have been fairly busy this week making cards and doing other fun things that I will be posting as time goes by.  Check out the previous 2 posts about Caffeine Addicts Swap and Society of Stampaholics Monthly Challenge to see the cards.  Tonight my desk has drying bits of 2" x 2" grunge paper that has been painted, embossed, and painted on it for a swap I am involved in on the All Things Tim Yahoo Group.   I would give you the URL but Yahoo got hacked yesterday and over 450,000 accounts have been compromised so....I guess I won't do that till they get them up and running again.  Okay back on track...my desk!
Seems like I always have a hundred small bottles or jars of something hanging around on my desk...why you ask?  Well these are the things I use to most and I hate putting something up knowing I will just be dragging it back out in a few minutes/hours/days.  So my desk stays cluttered.  I bought an addition to the tool caddy in the upper right of the photo.  It is like the Clip It Up embellishment holder and uses clips to hold your packs on the rings.  I am not for sure I like it yet so it sits without much on it.  The square pieces when finished will be used in the Christmas patchwork piece we are putting together.

Remember the post about Halloween Chaos Tag Canvas I was making tags for ?  I got my finished canvas back yesterday and here is what it looks like.
Isn't it awesome!  There were 5 different groups in this swap and 12 canvases in each group.  Stacy Cook made the topper and the charms along the bottom!  Check out her blog, Crop Paper Scissors to see all the canvases.  My tag is the little one top line center with the skull on it!

Well I think I had  better call this done cause Julia has made us all vow to not have long run on posts and this one has definitely run on long enough.  I am going to go grab a cup of tea and do some blog hopping and see what everyone is up to!  Have a great week!

btw...I learned a new term today....Deja Poo...the feeling that you have heard this crap before!  As the presidential election gears up for the final month of politicking it is definitely getting piled higher and deeper here in the state.

Caffeine Addicts Card Swap

Does anyone belong to Split Coast Stampers?  I have belonged for as long as I have been stamping and used to do a lot of swaps and challenges in the beginning.  I decided that I am going to get back into doing some of the swaps again cause I used to have so much fun doing them.  Rules are simple...make the cards and send them in.  This swap was for anything caffeine addicts would relate to so I did mine about drinks.

Here are pictures of what I made to send in to swap.
I made a total of 6 same but different cards.  I forgot to take a picture of them before I put them in their protective sleeves and after taking two out I decided to photograph them in the bags.  Each card had a stamped sentiment inside and a design stamped on the envelope...wouldn't want to send a naked envelope out to someone now would we!

The cards are made from craft paper and I found the printed papers over at Scrap That Scrapbook store.  The stamp set was from Fiskars. Inks from Ranger.  Jewels are Hot Rocks and ribbon is from Stampin' Up!

Society of Stampaholics Card Chain Challenge

Today I want to share a card I made for the Card Chain Challenge at the Society of Stampaholics blog. The rules are really simple and you only have to make one card to join in the swap.  Septembers challenge was:

Creative options. Make a card that uses at least one of the following three options. You can actually use two or all three, but you are only required to use one of them.
Color Palette
2012-09-A
OR

Sketch
2012-09
OR
One of the following themes/products:
Hats and/or felt accents (in honor of National Felt Hat Day on September 15)
OR
Pirates and/or parrots (in honor of International Talk Like  a Pirate Day on September 19)
OR
Friends

I chose to use 3 options this month, color, sketch and friends.   The paper and cardstock are Stampin' Up!  Sentiment is also from SU.  I used mulberry paper roses and made the leaves and white ferny stuff with Spellbinders dies.

WOYWW #172

My desk this week doesn't look much different then it does most of the time but there has been a  lot going on around and on it!  Here is what it looks like tonight...

My desk is still a mess but less so then last weeks picture!  There are some roller stamps that I took off the roller and I am putting some Aleene's Tack It Again and Again glue on so I can use them on clear blocks.  I bought an insert to go in the center of the roundy round tools organizer that holds gems etc on clips that I am in the process of hanging some things on.  My knitting is off to the left.

I went to a stitch and gritch (or whatever you want to call it) the other night with my daughter and she tossed needles and yarn at me and told me to start to knit...sounded a lot like I did many years ago when I was trying to teach her to knit but for some reason she just  didn't catch on.  Now she knits faster, neater, and more difficult projects then I do!
I am hoping this will become a scarf in a short while!

Thought I would share a tag I made for a swap.  I bought a new Cricut cartridge and decided to try out the dress and dress form that was on it.  Different then what I normally turn out but not bad all things told.

Dress form tag in monochromatic colors.
Think I will stop here and head over to Julia's now and post on WOYWW.  What's that you say?  Well follow me over there and Julia will tell you all about it.  Stamping Ground is where we are headed!  Have a great week!

WOYWW #171

I spent the afternoon and evening with my daughter and forgot about WOYWW until just now!  WOW how could I let that happen!  I would definitely mourn the loss of a single Wednesday meeting with all my buddies and pals at Julia's desk tour...Wonder what I am going on about?  Well mosey on over to Julia's blog, Stamping Ground and she will fill you in on our globe trotting Wednesdays!

My desk today is worse then anything you have ever seen me post on WOYWW in the past and it is all due to my sorting through stuff for a class I am going to do in Missouri this weekend and getting some orders in from Stampin'Up!....  Look out now here is my desk this morning...

Sorry for the blurry picture but...I couldn't get focused cause of all the crud messing up my desk...an order of Xyron tapes are in the box, several cricut cartridges, empty stamp boxes and new stamps that came in with the order...Here is part of the order....

new stamp sets, new ribbon, stamp rollers, bling and a bunch of other stuff!
I love Stampin' Up! and all our wonderful products.  I have made some really good friends thorough being a Stampin' Up! demo!

A card I made this weekend using the new Orchard Harvest paper and the Perfectly Preserved stamp set from SU!  SU! has been bringing out new thin dies the past couple catalogs and the labels the corn is on is a set that is in the new catalog.

Okay that's it for me tonight.  I am going to go to bed so I can get up at 11am and go to lunch with a friend who is interested in having a stamping party...my kind of fun.

Have a great week everyone and I will be making rounds of the blogs hopefully later today.

WOYWW #170

Busy day/week this week.  I have been helping a friend of mine get her store set up for the grand opening on Saturday of this week.  I have limited abilities but she tells me my input into set up and organization are very helpful and I am more then happy to lend a hand.  Besides I have an ulterior motive...I get to see the new collections first!!!  If you live in or around Norman, Oklahoma make sure you drop by Saturday and say hello cause I have agreed to bake the cake and assist that day also!!  Oh need you to know where!...it is at Scrap That Scrapbook, 526 West Main, Norman, Oklahoma 73069.

So onward to what I am here to talk about...whats on my desk today.  Let me tell you about it before I forget...WOYWW is every Wednesday you just pop by Julia's Stamping Ground and link up with a bunch of globe trotting crafters/artists from around the world.  So here is my desk tonight....
a notebook full of clear fall and halloween stamps, paper by My Minds Eye, I have my tag die out so I can cut some tags out of manilla paper tonight.  There are some spools of halloweenie colored twine, a roll of black washi tape with white spider webs on it...
I am attempting to see what I can find to make up some ATC and tags for swaps on Art 42,  Splitcoast Stampers, All Things Tim, and creative-block Stampers Anonymous that I signed up for last night.  I guess I went overboard on signing up so now I have to get busy and do something.  I also have agreed to do some classes for my friend at her new store!  I know I have gone nuts but it is a good way to go nuts isn't it...being creative I mean!

thought you might want to see the awesome goodness up close.  Do you have My Minds Eye and Authentique where you live?  There is anew company coming out this year called FarmHouse that bears watching too it has beautiful vintage and shabby chic papers.

Okay that is it for me today.  I am going to go link it at Stamping Ground and see what I can see.  Just poured another glass of iced tea to drink...can you believe it got up to 101 deg F today here.  Miserable weather for the 4 September.  Have a great day/week!!
