WOW! WOYWW!

Wednesday really seemed to roll around fast this week!  Must be because I have been busy with doctors appointments, lots of crafting, and fun stuff around the house.  Oklahoma is known for severe weather and tornadoes but this past Sunday we had a 5.8 earthquake with the epicenter about 100+ miles north of where I live…close to where Deeyl lives near Pawnee OK.  We are all okay but the environment protection agency has stepped in and forced the Indians to stop allowing fracking and waste water well injection into a new fault line that has developed up there.   It is not a good deal so if you hear the Indians are on the warpath in Oklahoma it is probably a true story.

I have been having a lot of fun making stuff the past week.  I posted about some layouts and cards I made just before this post.  I also posted about some tags and ATC's for a swap on Yahoo groups.  I started a box/basket of projects I need to get finished so will be posting more later.  On to my desk!  Why are we posting about our desks?  Go check out Julia at Stamping Ground cause she has the details ready and waiting under the WOYWW tab...

My desk this week…It is actually a little neater as I continue to organize and sort stuff out.  I am sorting through boxes of 6x6" recipe cards, various cards, chipboard books etc.  I have decided to get rid of a lot of stuff so I can have room for the new I am making.
The big picture of at the desks and boxes…it was a mess when I took this picture but it is all picked up now.   I was at coffee the other day talking with a friend about all my craft stuff and how overwhelmed I sometimes feel.  I have always felt I wanted/needed my stuff right at my finger tips but now I am not feeling that need anymore to the point it is an issue.  I think one of my first changes is the reorganization of past projects like cards, ATC etc.  Donating all the cards to either a nursing home or to the organization that sends them over to deployed servicemen to use to send home is a good option.
One of the 3 boxes of cards I have made.  Some are so old the glue has started to let loose so I am gluing as I go along.  They are still in new shape just sat too long.  I think I am going to make it a policy to give away the cards as I go along and not hoard them!
The clear box to the left is a box of 6"x6" recipe cards that I made for card swaps when I first started doing paper crafts.  I think I will make up recipe books for the kids for Christmas this year and give some of the others away to good homes.

I think my next project for organization is my dies and cutting machines.  I have physically relocated the machines for easier access but need some system to store some of the dies and stamp sets together.  Stay tuned I am a work in progress!

That's about all I have to report for this past week.  I hope everyone has a great week!

  5. Wow an earthquake - we had a bad storm last night - the lightening was incredible - quite scary. I am trying to organise better and get rid of stuff - I don't know why but I feel a little overwhelmed by it all as well. Anne x #17

  6. Thank for popping over to mine earlier. It sounds like the weather and nature have been causing concerns near you....be sure to stay safe. What a great idea with the cards...I'm sure they will raise useful funds.
    Have a great week.

  7. You'll feel so much better for a good clear out! That's why I like making things for charity, you get the pleasure of making, then a clear shelf afterwards!!
The earthquake sounds a bit worrying...fracking does not sound a good idea to me...

  8. I store my dies on magnetic paper inside a CD packet (clear plastic) and then in a CD box. Hope this gives you an idea.
Gosh you certainly are busy, and I know about the glue drying out - I find that anything that has had DS tape on is prone to drying out and falling in bits. Now I use wet glue and it seems to hold much better.
    Good luck with the tidying.

  10. Hi Vickie, I think the earthquake problem is one reason people in general are so opposed to fracking. Playing with stuff we don't understand fully, and can't fix when it goes wrong. Love the desk shot, by the way. I too found DST seems to give way after a while- I just redid a load of cards that like you I'd been hoarding for far too long, then passed them to a charity. It's probably just as well they don't leave you the bottle, lol, unless you have more restraint than me!Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #9 xxx

  11. I can totally relate to the overwhelming feeling of an overcrowded art studio. I think it's a cleansing experience to organize and giveaway stuff that I don't use or need anymore. Peace!

  12. Happy WOYWW. How scary having such a big earthquake so close to home. The first day we were in Jamaica (when we got married there in 2005) there was a reasonably large earthquake, which moved all the furniture and there was a powercut. The staff said that it was rare on the island, and I now say it was a sign of good luck for us! Glad to hear that you have been busy with crafting and also reorganisation. We all change how we craft over time, and now I am making my mixed media stash a priority. I am not making many cards (in fact my card drawer is almost empty), but I do want to get back into making ATCs. Ali x #31

  13. That must have been scaring such an arthquake, Last week while putting away and rearranging siome stuff I also was suddenly overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I've seemed to accumulate over the past couple of years, it will last me a couple of lifetimes of crafting I think. Love your ideas of donating your cards and recipebooks. Thx for your visit earlier, vicky

  14. Yikes on the earthquake. We actually had one here in Kalamazoo a while ago. Scary. I don't think any of us were actually sure what it was! Thankfully it wasn't that big and didn't last long.

Your craft room looks wonderful - so creative and raring to go.

    Have a great week

  16. I do hope the Indians don't go on the warpath! How fascinating to hear about your tornadoes and earthquakes.. its plain boring in the UK..we're having a heatwave so I'm hiding indoors although I'm off to the Balearics on Saturday and no doubt it'll be warm there too. Well done on all the sorting out.

  17. Hello Vicki. I am glad you are ok and boy I am for sure not one for earthquakes at all. Oh I do hear you on the re-organizing and finding just the right storage solution that works best....I am still working on a few myself and to use up my vast stash or must say good bye to some. Good luck with everything and can not wait to see your progress. Thanks for visiting me early and have a wonderful week. Hugs ~Anne L#5

  18. Oh, Vicki - aren't we all a work in progress?? We all move stuff around, do things and later wonder why - never fear. It sounds like you are human just as we all are!!
Your re-organising sounds great, and you are doing really well with it all.
Thanks for your visit. I actually have lots of John's scraperboard work hanging in the dining space. My daughters and I also have the pyrography place mats he made... and the oil paintings he did...
    Take care. God bless.

  19. Hi Vickie, Glad the earthquake didn't effect you. We have had a lot of protests about fracking in this country.

Your cards will be greatly received.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  21. You are not the only one that needs to get rid of some stuff. I had thought about going to the Old Peoples home and see if they would like some crafting stuff. Have a great woyww, Angela x 19

  22. We've had fracking earthquakes here in OH too. Not as strong as yours. Isn't it refreshing to clean up and clean out! I'm sure your cards will be well loved by the recipients.

  25. I know I've already visited, but I was going to answer a question here as well as my blog. You asked where I swap ATCs. A fellow desker recommended ATCforall. This will be my first swap there. I just saw you previous few posts. I was totally enamored with your halloween tags and your WICKED pocket letters. Fabulous!
