WOYWW #180

Wednesday again!  Oh my time for WOYWW!  Time is going faster and faster each week it seems.  Christmas is drawing closer and I am afraid that I am not going to be able to keep shoving it into the background much longer.  Need to get out the Christmas papers box and get my cards made and the letter written cause I leave on a cruise the 2 December for a week and I don't want to contend with them once I get back all relaxed and whatnot!

WOYWW...whats that?  A group of bloggers that link up each Wednesday to check out one anothers desks to see what is going on.  To have a good old fashioned snoop legally!!  If you would like more info click on over to Stamping Ground where the most gracious of hostesses, the queen of desk snoops, Julia will tell you what to do!

This is a picture of my desk today...  Sorry it is so dark but it is about 0100 here in Oklahoma and I didn't want to use flash.  OMG! you say...well yes it is a mess but it is a lot better then what it was earlier today.  I have been really busy this week working on the tags for my tag canvas/class that will be happening on 24 and 29 November and it has made a mess of my workspace for sure!  The mess is the part you don't see!  Check back previous few days posts to see the tags that are going on the canvas.

I decided that the tag canvas needed some hanged down things from the bottom of the canvas so I am in the process of making a banner that says 2012 that I cut out with the Vagabond and Spellbinders.  Now I need to unearth the Cricut so I can cut out some numbers.    The snow flakes on the lower middle part of the desk will go on the green recipe cards I am in the process of making.  I am making 2 more recipe cards for a swap.  Here is a picture of one that is completed...

Easy peasy recipe!  I love cake mixes!

I made a chocolate cake yesterday from scratch using the master mix I made up from Ginger Lemon Girl site that is a blog run by Carrie Forbes.  BTW I bought her new slow cooker cookbook and it has a lot of really yummy gluten free recipes in it!  Each week Carrie puts out a weeks worth of meals and recipes for those folks who need some help.  Check her blog out cause she has all sorts of free recipes available also!

Made it through week four of my diet changes and it is becoming a little easier to say no without having to explain everything to everyone.  Most people know someone who has food allergies or intolerance and go out of their way to be helpful!

I guess I will leave it like this for today and mosey on over to Julia's and log in for the blog hopping.  I need a cup of tea and a snack and will visit a few before going to bed tonight.  Check back tomorrow to see the finished canvas!

  4. There are so many people with food allergies these days and diabetes is on the rise.. So glad that you are settling into the new diet so well. My hubby has diabetes and try to find new varieties of recipes to make it a little more exciting.. We follow a completely sugar free diet and it works really well for him.. Was hard at first but now its a lot easier once you find that core of foods and recipes that you like... GL with it all Sandy :) #50

  5. I really should get that book, my allergies to food makes life really difficult sometimes. I just noticed that you are a Stamping up demonstrator. I am looking for the tab punch that everyone uses for their mini albums. DO you know if it is still available or would you happen to have one to sale? Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I have really missed this group the last couple of weeks. #22

  8. All those snowflakes stacked up look like a little hedgehog all spiky lol
can't see this 'mess' you on about though! looks pretty clear, funny how different peoples perception of mess varies, I think for us clean types the slightest bit of stuff and we call it a mess, yet the messy types..Well lets say no more hehehe
Thanks for the visit, Happy WOYWW

  11. Happy WOYWW. I love your tags and recipe cards. Great inspiration for me, as I have some tags to make for a few commissions and I would like to do recipe books for gifts. Not sure how you find the energy to do so much, but then my hubby pointed out that I spend at least 3 hours per day looking after my dogs/ponies/cats/guinea pig. If I spent that time in my craft room, then I would not be panicking about getting all my projects done (and would have more money to spend on stash)! With that in mind, I must go out and take the dogs out for a 2nd walk of the day (and still another one tonight if I have the pain relief under control), and feed the other animals. Have a fabulous week. Ali x #71

  12. I'm happy to see you are sticking with being G free! Great work! But, did you notice that being G free is fattening? I know it is healthier for people like us, but the amount of carbs, fat and calories will kill you!! or me.
Love your recipe card. Can't wait to see the tags and canvas for the class!!

  13. Love those Christmas tags - so bright and cheerful! Good luck with the class, hope it goes well :)
The recipes and cookbook look good too! There seems to be a much wider range of gluten free goodies these days thought they seem to be twice the price of ordinary stuff in the UK supermarkets....

  17. Lovely desk as always, Vickie - I just love your rainbow markers which are a work of art in themselves! (Don't even mention the dreaded "C" word lol!! I haven't even thought about it yet...) Also, your recipe card is great. What a smashing idea. Hope the new diet is continuing to prove helpful. It's not something I'd be able to take on for myself as I'm not able to cook these days, and my hubby does it (subsistence cooking really as he's so busy!) and we have the odd takeaway and meals out. We manage pretty well really.

Thank you for your very kind words on my blog. The trouble is, I do tend to take on quite a lot of different things, and end up with loads of unfinished stuff lol! Glad you like my projects, anyway. The art journal is turning out to be a great joy to do, and I'm so thrilled with the little leather book my hubby found for me, just begging to be filled with art!

    Happy WOYWW,

  25. You must be very strong. I have no will power. I am killing myself by splurging. I know it it so bad, that's why I have such a bad digestive system. I want a Copic stand like that! You have so much fun stuff in arms reach, I love it.
    Thank You for stopping in.

  26. Thats not mess, when you have no space to create and stuff is falling on the floor coz you try and create push space then you have a problem. So does that make you feel better? Food allergies I know what you mean, not easy but when you know eating something or smelling something that is going to make you sick, it does make it easier to stay away from the bad stuff. I suffer with horrendous food allergies and it is hard when on the road with work. Keep up with the diet, it's well worth it.\

  27. Thanks for visiting me Vickie. I'm trying not to think about the sheet music being worth anything, most of it looks like it was from the 40's - Vera Lynn and all. Thought you had a hedgehog on your desk to start with but then enlarged to find snowflakes, amaking what the brain makes up! BJ#36

  29. Hi Vickie, Thanks for visiting and for your kind comments. I am green with envy at that great stash of Copics and all those lovely colours staring at you! I do think some handmade backgrounds would be great to take on holidays. If you did some A4 pages and cut them in half that would keep you busy, I think. Have a lovely holiday! And happy late WOYWW!

  30. Thanks for coming by to visit me, Vickie. Lots of sisterhoods made through this thing, that's for sure. Your space is, um, cozy and you weren't kidding about "unearthing" your Cricut. I'm amazed you are able to make such lovely creations in that tiny desk area. I spread out all over in more ways than one!! Well done recipe card and great-looking recipe. Thanks! Have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving! Darnell #41

  31. Delighted to hear that your dietary changes are embedding a bit..makes things so much easier huh...I noticed that once I've been around the people who keep saying 'one won't hurt' and such other unhelpfulnesses, whenthey see I am quite resistant to it, they let it go. Except my mother who bless her, combined with altzheimer's not only forgets why I turn these things down, offers them to me so constantly that its exhausting..and in that case, one...just one..stops her asking!!
Glad to read you're off on a cruise, a break is much deserved. Am loving the work that you're doing for your classes, all the tag info etc, so giving!

  35. I'm REALLY late getting round to people this week - family life getting in the way!

So, I figured I'd better pop in and at least say thanks for stopping by!

  36. I got side tracked a little looking at Gluten free recipes. Unfortunately, a lot of the ingredients are not readily available over here and, of course, our measurements are different. Never mind, I will have a go at those I can. I am so late visiting this week. Life has got in the way, mainly a dreadful smell in the living room which we cannot track down, so everything has been washed and shampooed to within an inch of its life. We worked so hard yesterday that I could barely get out of bed this morning. I still need my missing day back. Hope you ar feeling better, and that the new diet is helping you. xx Maggie #24

  38. What are you talking about?! I think that's the cleanest I've ever seen your actual worktop be! lol :) I sure wish I could get down there and help with your craft room re-do and take that class I read about on a newer post. I don't do the Dec 25th holiday but it still looks like you've used some fab techniques that I would really love to learn. Take care and enjoy...and thanks for stopping by my space and leaving a funny comment already. Sorry I'm running so late but hey, its still Tuesday here in OK isn't it? ;) lol Deeyll
