WOYWW #174

I have had a horrible week this week.  I think I picked up something when I was cropping last Friday night cause I have felt "not so good" ever since then.  I can't pin point what is going on but it is more then my CFS/ME and Fibro that is flaring.  I have kept a headache and I feel hot (no it isn't hormones!) and a multitude of other complaints.  Haven't left the house at all and actually slept in Tuesday until 4pm.  I didn't get to bed till 4:30 am but still that is a lot of sleep for even me.

My desk is crammed packed again cause I have been spending what time my head isn't hurting in there trying to get caught up on swaps that I have signed up for.  I am afraid a lot is going to be a little late and I feel guilty for that but it can't be helped.

my photography set up.  It is just 2 pieces of white foam board but it works pretty well.  I haven't had the inclination to buy a photo cube cause the cost so darn much and this gives me a lot of reflected light and does better then what I used to use.
Thought I would share a set of 6" x 6" recipe cards I made for a swap on Split Coast Stampers.  The swap was for 5+1 and I would be getting back 5 different ones.  I made 8 so I could have one and another for a cookbook I am creating as a Christmas gift.
the 8 recipe cards together

One alone and a little bigger so you can read the recipe. This a a really good and filling soup.  If you can't read it let me know and I will email the recipe if you want it.
Wondering what WOYWW is all about.  Go check out Julia's blog Stamping Ground and join in with the group touring around the globe one desk at a time.

One last thing I would like to share with you.  My day of baking nut breads.  Yummy!  Think I will make a cup of tea and go blog hopping.  Have a great week!
Another accomplishment this past week.  I made pumpkin cranberry nut bread (3 loaves) and Banana nut bread (2 loaves)  It was really yummy and I probably ate way more then I should have!

  10. Hope you soon feel very much better and raring to go. In the meantime, you have been producing some lovely things. Those recipe cards have just given me an idea for a Christmas present, so thank you for that. You have also reminded me to get some yeast out of the freezer (and order some more) and make some fig and walnut bread - the recipe came from "Masterchef Australia" and looks delicious. You have also given me a very good idea to make my photo area as I already have a box full of that foam board. So you have been very inspirational for me today. Thank you for your visit this morning and you can be assured that the green mat will be well covered by lunchtime. Take care of yourself, and hope you are soon back to normal. xx Maggie #36

  17. Hi Vicky..... I'd love to come for dinner at your place... you cook so well. Love those recipe cards. They are always good swap getting lots of favourite specials from all the participants.
Take a look on Youtube for fab videos for making a ripple/wave afghan. The ripple is made very simply by increasing and decreasing a couple of stitches along the rows of trebles.I got fed up stitching together the granny squares so the ripple rows just grow and grow. It's so relaxing to do but the granny squares are better when you only need something small to take with you.
    Just DO IT!!

  22. I don't know how far or fast viruses spread, except to say we live in a very small world, and a couple of work colleagues have had very nasty symptoms that have ended then in hospital, investigated, no causes found except to say 'viral infection' I suspect it may be a weird form of Flu.. do take good care of yourself until you get back to your kind of normal,

Sorry to hear that you’re not feeling great at the moment, but don’t add to the problem by feeling pressured into getting stuff done for when it should be. Sometimes we just have to give in and think of ourselves, as I know only too well. Hope you’re on the mend soon

  38. I hope you feel better--sounds like a bug. Hot tea and some creative therapy should help. You know, I've never looked into getting a photo cube--that's an interesting idea! I just try to shoot everything on a white table in the sunlight--but we don't always have the right sunlight. Good luck with all your swaps--it is very hard, when you're not feeling good, so I know you'll get some energy back soon. Hugs! --Sandy Leigh at #99

  44. Happy WOYWW. I really must improve my photography set-up. At the moment I mainly scan my cards, but if they have lots of layers then I just use my phone - yes, shocking! Fantastic baking - my hubby doesn't eat flavoured bread, so I don't get to make any very often. Perhaps we both have the same 'virus' - I have been troubled by feeling hot, sick, 'not right' (different to a usual flare). Ali x #72

  66. Hi Vickie - gosh, I know exactly how you feel - which isn't great! Hope you are feeling loads better soon.

Im interested in how you take your pics - because I do EXACTLY the same thing... I did rustle up a makeshift lightbox which worked a treat: get a cardboard box more oblong than square. Cut two adjacent sides off leaving you with kind of an 'L' shape - but with sides on... I covered mine with some of that thin spongy foam packing/wrapping stuff - or you could use white wall paper - I also used a mix of A3 and A4 white card/paper stock making sure that it was all covered. It's like a little stage for your cards - and ensures that you don't get any of your background in... Although I'm lazy and haven't used it for a while now... it did get that the cat thought it was a good idea to sleep on, things got piled on it too so I think its still in the garage - but good nonetheless, and it did the job...

Hope you are feeling a bit better soon - I know this time of year can be a nightmare with the weather changing and people getting bugs and germs - hopefully it won't spoil your fun in going to crops and meets etc too often... maybe take some vitamin C? what do I know - I avoid doing a lot of thing for the fear of getting anything which will make me cough (it hurts my damaged ribs)!

I'll be thinking of you, get in touch for a natter if you want

    big hugs
