WOYWW, LifeBook, Art Journal Calendar Challenge

I decided to get a jump on WOYWW this week and I am doing my post at 7:30 pm on Tuesday night.  If I don't do it now I will probably forget and not get around to it again this week.  I don't know where the time goes!  If you want to find out what WOYWW is go visit Julia at Stamping Ground and she will fill you in about all that goes on!

Here is a picture of my desk this week.  Not a lot going on right now because I am trying to keep it clean so I can get caught up with some of the classes and challenges I am going to try to do this year.
My desk has a lot of fun things on it and my watercolor paper pad that I am starting a drawing on for Lifebook 2015.  The beginning of the month marked a new start to Lifebook 2014...now called Lifebook 2015 with a host of new teachers and new things to learn.  If you haven't ever heard of Lifebook go check it out!  I have been a member of the Lifebook group since the first class started 3 years ago and even if I don't do each and every lesson I always learn a lot by watching the videos!

This is the warm up lesson by Tamara Laporte and I had a lot of fun playing with paints, inks, and loads of other stuff making this painting in my book.  Tam always starts the first week off with a lot of videos and PDF so it takes a while to get through it.  The first lesson...a warm up
The warm up was multi faceted to get you to think about what you want to do this year and get you in a frame of mind to get it done.  Tam does more then just teach art of paper and paint she is using art as a therapy to get you in touch with yourself.  We were to think of a special word or words and goals we wanted to achieve this year.  My words are take time, relax, be happy.  These are my goals for this year.  they are in the folded envelope on the piece.   I tend to over do with multimedia but I am a work in progress so that's okay!
The project on my desk is the second art part to the first week called "the Beacon of Light" that I will be working on later tonight.

Another project I have been working on is for the Art Journal Calendar Challenge on Facebook.  The challenge group is headed by Kate Crane of The Kathryn Wheel blog.  I had seen loads of people doing this challenge each month and I decided I just had to give it a try myself.
My very first art journal calendar but it won't be my last.   I am in kind of a dilemma though cause I like grunge and I like bright colors and I seem to be over doing things somewhat.  Oh well I am a work in progress and it will eventually iron itself out.

I am bordering on a long post here and Julia likes them kept short and sweet so I am going to call a halt to this post.  Go check out the blogs and sites I linked here.  Lots of fun and lots of good things to learn and see.  Have a great week.

  2. Wow. Tidy, ...do you find it inspiring? I don't do multimedia because I DO overdo it...knowing when to stop is a real skill that I lack in all areas of life!! I don't see overdoing on either of your projects..but thenit's, you are your own harshest critic.

  11. I like how you keep saying that you are a work in progress, because really, aren't we all? Your lifebook is off to a great start. I like the addition of the folded up envelope with your goals inside. "And the envelope please...." Great colors too. I'm with you, I love the look of grunge, but I like bright colors too. They don't really mix that well. Judy #76

  12. Nice pages, Vickie, and what great projects--these both sound like such great arty endeavors! I've heard of the calendar project, but have never gone to check it out.

Happy 2015 to you, and happy woyww!

  13. Happy WOYWW. I am feeling dizzy with so much fab journaling stuff. This year I have accepted that I will never keep up with any challenges, and now I just do what I want, when I want - except for when I have a card or pressie to finish. My Fibro seems to be appreciative of less pressure in my life - and I seem to be no less busy. Ali x #64

  15. Hi Vickie,
Thanks for dropping by. I do seem to always manage to have at least two projects on the go at once! Can't seem to help it :) I'm ok with that, as long as I actually finish them :) Good on you for signing up for a serious challenge like the journal thing. I'm going to do some monthly challenges, when I see ones I like :) I don't know how people manage to do weekly challenges. Oh, and I do like Kate Crane's work too. Have a good week :)

  16. I really like your calendar page, because I believe you've done a great job of blending your love of grunge and bold colors. That's the only way to develop your own style in my mind. Blessings!

  17. I love what you are doing at the moment, Vickie. Your calendar page is great. I keep thinking I should be doing something like that this year... Mojo! Where ARE yoooouuu??

Thanks for your two lovely comments - I am sure Mr. Mojo will return in due course. I think once I get the result of the scan and we know more definitely what we are dealing with, things will settle down a bit. At least I'm able to do my embroidery at the moment, and that may have to be enough for now. I've got my hubby's valentine card bugging me a bit at the moment but this may be a year when he doesn't get one!!

Glad you like my embroidery and my new RUBs.

I got a date for my scan this morning - it's next Friday at 5.20 p.m. I hope they come back with a result quickly because although I'm not looking forward to the next few months, I just want it to be over and done with.

  20. Seems that being #1 this week would get me here earlier, but sadly, I'm running far behind. Sorry to read you have not been well. I hope those art therapy type Tam classes help.

I'm doing Kate's calendars, too. But since she no longer provides a linky on her blog, I'm just doing them for me, since I'm not on Facebook or Flickr. Love what YOU have done, though. I know this will be something that will keep you excited through the year. It has me for FOUR + years.

Happy very belated WOYWW and thanks for the earlier visit.

  21. Even though I am late in starting I think I will do that diary challenge this year. Promised every year for about four but this time I might just do it. Thanks for the inspiration.
As for journalling I am hoping to do a course (workshop) shortly and will have to see how it goes. At the moment I have only done art type journaling. Love what you have done.
    Hugs, Neet 3 xx
