WOYWW #290 and Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Eve and I am a little late but I am here!  My Grandfather Maurice (Reece for short) was a very colorful character and used to have sayings to explain all sorts of circumstances!  The one about a one legged man in a butt kicking contest comes to mind today...  I haven't posted to WOYWW since WOYWW #285 in November...OMG!  Time flies when you are having so much fun and traveling about like I have been doing.  Check out Julia's blog for more info on WOYWW!

We spent Thanksgiving visiting with our son and his family in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  The 2 day (20 hour drive) took all the starch out of my sails and I spent the week after we got home trying to recover and recoup before my daughter and I took off on a weeks cruise of the Caribbean. Thought I would share some pictures of both trips and forget my desk today cause it is a horrible mess....oh well if you insist!!!
I know!  Super Scary with capitol letters!  I have been doing a lot of crafting but I can't find much in the way of photography.  I was in a couple of swaps and sent those off without even thinking of taking pictures!!  The snowman you see in the desk is part of a 6"x6" calendar page swap that I made two pages for.  Here is a better look at them...

I will do a post and post pictures of all the year later.  That's it for WOYWW and the following is family pictures if you are interested read on...

We went to Virginia Beach for a week over Thanksgiving driving there with Heather and Michael.  We got to spend some quality time with our grand daughters and got to meet our new grandson Charlie.
l-r back row  me, our son Chad, our daughter Heather and her husband Michael, my husband Chuck, sitting is Candice, Charlie, Miss Wiggleworm otherwise known as Hannah, and Teresa.  I took a ton of pictures but I think this captures the holiday.  We enjoyed being with our families!

The All Girl Cruise was a Mother/Daughter cruise with my daughters best friend Julie and her daughter Caitlin.  Heather and Julie became friends in the SCA and introduced her to me.  I consider Julie a bestie also.

1st Formal night...doesn't this look like trouble on the hoof! l-r Heather, Me, Julie and Caitlin!
I love this picture of us!
The cruise left Galveston on December 14 and went to Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel and back to Galveston on December 21.  We had a blast and like before there are a ton of pictures but I will only share a couple here and maybe do a post on the trip later.   Merry Christmas everyone!

  5. Hi Vickie,

I know what you mean about overdoing it and paying for it later. I feel good and push myself then seem to have to take it easy for several days. Your Thanksgiving trip looks fun (congratulations on the newest member of the family) and the cruise, wow! That's great that you dressed alike when first arriving at the ship. The dress up night looks like trouble is in the house! tee hee. I love cruising and have been to the Caribbean from Florida. We stopped at Ocho Rios.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

    Hugs,
    Kay

  6. Hi Vicky! Happy Christmas! How wonderful that you went to see your family in Virginia. (I had to look it up on the map) and thank you for posting the photo of you with your family.
A ladies-only cruise! I've never heard of that. Sounds like a good idea. We've never been on a cruise. Apart from my husband's supposed sea sickness, a cruise conjures up visions of all sorts of 'hanky-panky', which doesn't appeal to us. But a cruise for ladies sounds great. The photo of you and your daughter is beautiful. All glammed up! You both look gorgeous!
    Enjoy the season,

  11. Great cards, Vickie, and what lovely family photos! You all look so happy. I am glad to see you've still got your magnificent purple hair! Love it!! Hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas. Ours wasn't great but we've got our postponed Christmas dinner to look forward to in the new year, and a day with my hubby's brothers tomorrow which will be fun.

Thanks for your lovely comments - glad you like the soaps! Everyone is getting late presents this year. Can't be helped and I am not stressing over what you can't control. I do hope you try making some soaps too! It's easy, creative and fun. Melt-and-Pour is the way to go (with vegetable glycerine soap base) rather than cold process which involves mixing lye etc. Have a good look on Youtube, Pinterest etc. - there are loads of tutorials and inspirational pictures, and the Soap Maker's Forum is a great place for inspiration and advice. Ebay has good cheap supplies and moulds etc. too. Have fun, and don't forget to share what you make! I am thrilled if people are encouraged enough by what I do to have a go themselves, whatever it is.

Happy New Year! - and happy belated WOYWW,
