WOYWW #264

It has been an interesting week since I last posted.  I haven't gotten a lot done that you can physically see or touch in my craft room but I did take some time to do some crafting and reorganizing.  I have a lot of my stamps in that big 3 drawer file cabinet that is next to the window and I have been trying to find a way to put them in the computer so I will know what is what.  It is going to be an ongoing process to say the least....probably weeks if not months to get them all cataloged.

Our friend of 45 years Alan Moller passed away last week and the services were Monday in Ft. Worth, TX so we drove down to pay last respects.  Al was only 64 but had suffered with Alzheimer's disease for the past 5 years become more and more physically and mentally debilitated over the time.  Sad days...

My desks...
I took a couple pictures of my desks but when I put them on the computer I didn't like any of them so I retook them...Funny that the computer has the original desk picture on the screen when I retook the shot.  As you can see Miss Stormy has decided that spot is hers and hers alone to the point she is hissing and slapping at the other cats that try to get up on the desk.  Ghost the white cat has pretty much vacated any desk sitting today because of Stormy's nasty disposition regarding the space.
The work desk here has been seeing some action this week.  I wrote a blog post over the week end for the SOC 4 week 2 project that I made.  Click on the link or scroll back to see the previous post about what I made.
I started a painting but became dissatisfied with it and put it off to the side but decided to go ahead and finish it anyway.  I am my worse critic and I like some parts of it and I will just live with the rest.  I was trying for a whimsical face but it seems all out of proportion and not colored right...any suggestions?
Well that's it for me today.  I need to head to bed so I can be up bright and early for my day of appointments.  Going to get a repeat followup mammogram done at 11:15 then a visit with a new therapist at 2 pm.  I always dread these things but...what can you do!  Getting old is not for the faint of heart!!

If you would like to know whats going on about these desk shots go visit with Julia at Stamping Ground and look over in the upper left for all the information you need to come play with us.

  5. Sorry to hear about your friend...Alzheimer's is a complete pig of a disease...taking away someone's very soul and being is the cruellest thing.
Hope your various med appts go well....I've had a couple this week. They have not been dignified!! So we are in good company, you and me :-)
Sending a great big hug :-)

  6. Sorry to hear about your friend. One thing I dread is alzheimers, it is such a horrid disease.
Had a smile about the cat but feel so sorry for the other one. I'd whack Miss Stormy off (not hit, just gentle push) and put Ghost on. I am always for the under-dog (or cat in this case lol)

  7. Hi Vickie,

So sorry to hear about your friend. He was so young; alzheimer's is terrible. My grandmother had it. She definitely had moments of clarity but then she'd drift away again.

I think your painting looks great. It kind of reminds me of Tori Spelling, who I think is pretty but a little messed up (no, I do not watch her reality show).

We definitely are kindred spirits with the moving of craft spaces. It gets much worse before it gets better. I need more energy to accomplish what I want. Visualization is a good thing but that's about all that I've been able to do! tee hee

By the way, I love how your cat is stretched out right in front of the computer. I had a dog that would sit between me and the t.v. with her back to me, and look over her shoulder every now and again. Not too subtle of way to say "look at me!"

Thank you for visiting me already.
    Happy WOYWW

  13. Sorry to hear about the death of your friend, Vickie, like everyone has said, Alzheimers is so cruel.
Miss Stormy certainly looks comfy in her spot, no wonder she is being territorial.
Good Luck with all your appointments.

  17. Hi Vickie, Your desk always, always pleases me! It's those lovely coloured markers and what I am guessing is a lot of stamp pads next to them. And kitty looks very comfy on your desk!
    Thanks for dropping by earlier,

  19. Sorry to hear your sad news. The desk looks busy apart from the kitty bit, no one had better try to move her or there will be trouble. I know why they like these spots so much because the computers give off quite alot of heat and they love to lie near to it.
    Happy crafting, Angela x #43

  22. Hi Vickie! Thank you for visiting me! I'm so sorry about your friend. Such a terrible sickness and so young!
I enjoyed your desk pic. Stormy looks so comfy there.
Good job on your face! I think the coloring is good and her wide eyes are attractive. Maybe darkler eyebrows to frame her eyes?

  23. I am horribly behind and need to catch up with your other posts. So sorry to read of your loss..I saw on FB how you admired and loved and celebrated Al's life..i think that's the sort of tribute we should all hope for - lovely. Ilove the stand up dolly on your second desk shot..and do you know,I don't think I've ever seen your desk and chair from that angle...it looks like a different room! The cat's behaviour makes me smile - it's not as if she's taking up a lot of room!!

  25. Hi Vicki
I have just seen your e mail to me about my comment from last week about not knowing what DLP was (it went into my junk box) DLP is documented life project ..a weekly art journal project organised by Art of the 5th pages are posted on facebook. I saw you had made a comment on someone's post. It must be very frustrating to not remember doing these things. I tried to look back for the post but there is just too much stuff on there ..... over 5000 members. I hope you can remember something from my prompts.
take care and have a great week
