I try and keep it picked up but somehow it always gets too looking like this and it doesn't seem to matter if I put away after I use each product it still ends up a mess so I just quit trying to put it away during and just put away at the end of each fun time...or maybe at the beginning of the next!
This wasn't the way I envisioned this tag turning out but I like it! I first inked the card with various shades of green, yellow, and blue Distress Ink and distressed around the edges. I used Tim Holtz Classics #1 dragonfly stamp and the flourish from the Spring Sprung stamp set. I stamped the dragonfly in Archival black ink then stamped the whole dragonfly a second time and then the wings a third so I could layer them on the tag. Using coarse texture gel and a wave stencil I gave the tag some depth...the texture gel picked up the color from the underlying Distress Ink and took on that color. Kind of cool huh! The dragonfly is colored with Luminart spray in green and blues. I used some bling on the body and antenna.

If you would like to see other desks and fun projects go to Stamping Ground and Julia will tell you how you can come play with us...it is a lot of fun! Off to see if I can't find some more fun things to get into in the room of stash. Have fun hopping around the blogs!
Wow that dragonfly is stunning...what a fab tag.

Wow, it is a masterpiece and so beautiful. In answer to your question Yoda doesn't like being cold he is a real snuggle cat every opportunity he gets. He is also a late riser from bed. Being a shift working house he can sometimes be in bed for 16 hours baring the toilet and drink breaks then into his other bed or heater hogging or lap. He loves company all and I mean all the time.

Hi Vickie
ReplyDeletenot so much messy as a work in progress, actually I think it looks tidier than sometimes.
I love the dragonfly and have seen the stamp a lot recently (Bella) I don't think it is available in the UK yet which is really annoying, but C'est la Vie.

ReplyDeleteI love the way the modeling paste/texture gel picks up the ink colors, so I'm always intentionally doing it.

You find the best things on sale. I remember buying a bunch of those Chinese coins one year when I was making my Asian AB. And I remember they weren't cheap, either. Love that tag, though.
ReplyDeleteBTW, when you come up to Wichita in April, I'd be more than happy to share that clay with you. I'll sure never use it all. Happy WOYWW from #2 and thanks for visiting while I slept.
Self cleaning desks--that's what we need. I put a lot of my stuff away right after using it and that's how my desk stays tidy (definitely not in evidence today) but it only works if the place to put stuff away is accessible--like right at hand or not so full that you can't cram more into it. That does eliminate the finding of long lost treasures though.
ReplyDeleteI love you tag and the great colors and textures on it. The coin charms really add to it. Great job! Judy #89
Your tag is totally beautiful! I love the way you have created the dragon fly. x Jo
ReplyDeleteHi Vickie, that tag is glorious! Love the colour combination. I will check out your link later, I have to get it done by mid -June, which for me is not too long, lol. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #38 xxx

That tag screams Spring and so do I! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how you intended the tag to come out, but I love it as it is, anyway! I just got that stamp (it has yet to see ink, oops) it's just fabulous. Happy WOYWW plus one day!! Helen 8
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tag, Vickie - I love the colour and all the texture and interest. Sorry I didn't make it onto WOYWW proper again this week - a bad week health wise and a continuing cough from my recent throat infection which is quite exhausting. Also my sewing machine has packed up and is in sewing machine hospital! I spent ages yesterday trying to fix it without success, so no time available for creative stuff, which is frustrating when I've got so many ideas rushing around in my head!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
Shoshi
Beautiful tag you have created they are such elegant bugs hugs Nikki 3
ReplyDeleteVickie, what a wow of a tag, it is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteChris #63
That is such a beautiful tag, Vickie, quite jewel like. The colours compliment the dragonfly perfectly. Your desk is so tidy in comparison to mine, I was working in the usual 6 inches square space yesterday - not easy when you are trying to learn how to use a brand new EBosser, which needs most of the desk, and doing techniques that are new as well. Thank you for your visit this week and I am sorry I am so late returning but what with going to the big show at the NEC and trying to catch up with things before and after, life has been so frenetic. Hope you have a good week. xx Maggie #76
