WOYWW #167 and Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Does anyone besides me seem to think that their desk looks the same every Wednesday?  Mine looks pretty much the same all the time just in varying stages of messy.  Today I have been working on a mouse trap and there is a hammer, some Prima flowers laying out that I used, the glue, the glue runner etc etc etc!!  Drawers are open, packets in various states of ope and it is mess.

This is the cause of the mess!  I have been watching everyone making the mouse traps this past month so I decided to give it a try but I bought a RAT trap instead so I could get more space for a clip.  What do you think?  I took all the metal bits off then painted it with some VerDay Paints and Patina from Ten Seconds Studio then I waited till it oxidized then I sealed it and put all the metal bits back on then decorated it with various pieces of goodies from my stash!  I really enjoy this new paint and patina technique so I think I will enter this in the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week.

I got back my 6"x6" page swap from Creative Block-Stampers Anonymous in the mail today.  I won the stamp from last months swap and the opportunity to call next months colors.  We will be making 6"x6" pages due the end of September in chocolate brown, golden yellow, and rusty red.  Sandy is offering up another awesome stamp next swap too so if you are interested go check it out!

Sort of short and sweet but getting long here so think I will end and go check out some of the other blogs at WOYWW...what what is WOYWW?  Check it out here!

Yes, I think you are a follower. I'm glad you like the little canvas. It's one of my favorites.

  10. Yes, I agree about desks - well mine at least. Unless I have a major overhaul it will always look the same.
What's all this about mousetraps? I know a swap is coming up on a challenge site but didn't know it was a craze until just now. Yours is the first I have seen but I tell you Vicki, I like it. What a super job you have made of it. It is fab!

  12. MOUSE TRAPS?? Soo cool but we live in a field so I fear our traps and full of mice (not that kind - we use the humane ones then drive them far away to release them :) - I'm a bit of a softie that way) I feel an long Google session coming on for mouse trap crafts!

    Happy WOYWW!

Oh and I didn't know SU had a bigger rosette die! Must have a look for that too.

  27. Well, it's by far the most humane use of a trap! It looks great, what a thing, they certainly haven't caught on here quite yet. I feel my desk is the same every week too, but it can't be really, or we'd be giving up this WOYWW stuff!

  28. Vickie, thanks for your blog visit. The thing on my desk holding the inks is a three-tiered cupcake holder sitting on a lazy susan for easy spinning. I bought it at Hobby lobby when it was 50% off, so it was only $10. I love it! dani #33

  29. First time I've seen this idea you have done a brilliant job. I always wonder why anyone would want to look at my desk- it always seems so lacking in interest compared with others.Happy WOYWW Anne x

  30. How interesting your trap is. I'm assuming it won't go off if you put your fingers or tail anywhere near it! Lovely desk, I may not visit you every week but I haven't noticed it looking the same.
A lake octopus - when we were on holiday, small was swimming in the lake and he felt a piece of driftwood pass his leg. He thought it was an octopus. When we brought it home and stamped, that was what he wanted to put. Told you it was long x

  37. Vickie, I've never seen an altered mousetrap before! ROFL! Now I think I've seen everything! It's gorgeous! I think any mouse would run right into it with great joy in his heart, it's so pretty!! (Nice way to go.) Lol!

Thanks for your visit - my ARTHaven is a total tip, and since last night I've been struggling to make flowers in it, but managing more or less, despite ongoing glue gun problems - the replacement from Ebay that came this a.m. is even worse than my existing one! I've just spent serious money on a really good one - to get good tools you've got to pay for them in my experience. I use it such a lot that it's worth it for me. I'm sick of glue guns that don't shoot glue, that get all bunged up, and (the latest one) that dribble glue constantly. An incontinent glue gun is NOT what one wants on one's work table!!!

  48. A mouse trap for a crafting project?! What will they think of next. Mouse traps are vicious! I'm sure rat traps more so. We set one up and stuck a ballpoint pen in it and it shattered the pen-ink everywhere. I think it would have broken my finger easily. Vicious! But good looking as a project I'll grant you that. Great color choices for the CB-Stamper's Anonymous challenge. I love your samples too. Great stuff!

  49. Hmmm, well, I wouldn't say this is a "usual" desk. I've certainly never seen decorated mouse/rat traps before. You people are certainly quite accommodating to your meesies and ratrots making them such high-end and beautiful last-things-they-will-ever-see! I'm not quite clear on the concept myself, but I'm not judging. As long as we are all bringing more beauty into the world, it's a wonderful thing!

I'm late getting around. Thanks for coming by my place earlier! Have a great week! Darnell #53

  50. Ouch, the trap is certainly a lot nicer like that than it's intended purpose. Yours looks beautiful. I think all desks pretty much look the same each week but we still need to look at them, cos you never know what you miseed last time. I try to enlarge most pictures and it's amazing what you find, so keep taking that picture!
    Have a great week.

But join I did and you did, too, I'm so glad. :) The altered rat trap is awesome! And congratulations on winning the stamp and color calling rights. You've picked some great colors for September, making us think about fall! Take care dear and hopefully you guys are getting some of the cooler temps and rain down there that we are getting up here. :)
