WOYWW #131

Welcome to Wednesday and this weeks version of WOYWW...what's that you say? Well in my humble opinion it is one of the best days of the week for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which is the blog posting of what's on your work desk to share with everyone around the world...literally! Check out Julia's website Stamping Ground and join us for a passport free trip around the world to check out what other crafter's and artists are doing!

This is my desk after my third attempt to do the alcohol ink technique Tim Holtz used on his Day 5 tag a couple days ago! OMG! This is harder then what I thought it was going to be for such an easy sounding technique. The third attempt all most had it but it didn't suit me too well so I wiped the ink off the tag with alcohol and after I get this posted and I am going to do it again...last time cause it will be perfect...or not!
I just won't be as picky this time. Have you been following along with the 12 Tags of Christmas that Tim has been doing on his blog? The green holly tag is for day 6 that I need to finish because I didn't have the folder he used for his and I improvised. As soon as I get a chance I will post my tag each day with a link to his tag you you can see what I did compared to his.

Another project I have had going on this week was making card fronts for a swap on Splitcoast Stampers. It was a lot of fun making the card fronts and I will be getting back a similar count from other cardmakers in the group. In total I made 16 of each card front and I kept 3 of each kind to use for Christmas cards this year. Every year I send out a lot of cards, about a hundred, to family and friends so having the extras from this swap will come in handy! Unfortunately I have problems parting with the little pieces of art from my friends and have to hustle to make more to send out!

Well that's it for me. I am going to go get a cup of tea and a cookie and take a leisurely look around the other blogs today. Hope everyone has a good week and is getting all their holiday baking and tree trimming done! I have the tree up but not enough lights on it to suit me so I haven't decorated it yet. Maybe tomorrow...

  1. Take photos of the ones you get so you can refer back to them if you like them or their techniques etc, but then at least you can use them! Gret cards and desk this week.

  4. Well done on taking part in the TH tag challenge, afraid I gave up before I started as I didn't have the folders or the dies, or the seasonal distress inks. May go back to it and try my own version. Good job you explained about trying the AI tag - all that red on your craft mat had me worried for a minute.
Thanks for visiting my blog, I so appreciate your comments.

  5. Lovely cards on your blog - now I know what to do with my new lamp post die - yours looks good.
You should visit your friend in Germany, the markets have a different atmosphere than those over here - it's well worth the expense and you wouldn't have an hotel to pay for. Lucky you having a friend, I just wish I could speak the language but you will have someone to do it for you and show you everything. Found out when I came back there are 20 markets in and around Munich - thought I'd done them all (or my feet did) but no not even half.

  10. Lovely cards! I particularly like the Santa 'Believe' one - of course I believe in Santa!! He is real :)
How interesting that your son is in a military band, has he played with them for long? What does he play? I often go to see the band of the Royal marines and they are awesome. I am inspired by them even though I know I will never be as good as them no matter how long I practise. But, I enjoy what I do so that's ok!

  12. Thanks for stopping by and offering words of encouragement! It doesn't help that panto is eating into my life at the moment and reducing my crafting time. Still, I WILL prevail!

  19. I am loving Tim's tags, had a go at making a couple of them but the last ones were a bit too complicated for me, I haven't had time to catch up with them as I had other commitments this week! Will be trying some more of them by the weekend for sure!
Happy WOYWW, have a fabulous, creative day, Debxx #104

  20. I love Tim's tags and usually play along but just haven't had a chance this year. Your alcohol inks sound messy. I had to laugh when I saw your mat, it looks just like mine does permanently!!!!
Can't wait to see your tags.
We'll be tree decorating at the weekend, I still can't believe Christmas is only 3 weeks away, where did the Autumn go?
    Happy WOYWW

  24. I think I will just admire everyone else's TH tags from afar. He puts such a
Lot of detail into making each one and showing exactly now he made them . Good luck with making yours. Hugs Mrs A.

  26. Oooh I loved the alcohol ink technique - keep perserveering (sp?) as it is well worth it - like all the card toppers you have made such a good idea. I am doing Tim's tags too but still havent finished off day 6 or started day 7 yet - oh well!

  28. Lovely cards, Vickie, and sorry to hear you had such a struggle with the alcohol ink. I'm another one admiring Tim's tags from afar - haven't possibly got time to make a tag a day for 12 days at this time of year lol! Lovely results from everyone, though. Happy WOYWW, Shoshi #56

  29. Why is it that what seems to be so simple turns out to be amazingly hard to get right. I am sure you will soon achieve the result you want very soon. I love your Santa cards, so bright and cheerful.

  30. Your cards for the swap look great, especially the lightpost! I remember seeing lightposts like that in New Orleans, LA when I was there many years ago.

Also, like your desk -- do you label your ink pads (those that don't have the color on the front)? I'm organizing (again) and am trying to figure things out - the less space required the better!
