WOYWW #146

Happy Wednesday everyone! It has been a busy week for me and yet I have nothing to show for it so to speak. I wasn't able to get around to everyone's desk again last week but tried to do the best I could and then Google decided not to let me post on several so...Better luck this week. Wonder whats up? You need to go to Stamping Ground the blog of Ms. Julia Dunnit and see what all the talk is about WOYWWW and why I am putting my desk out there for everyone to see!

Here is what my desk looks like today! Recognize anything?
I went shopping this afternoon at my local scrapbook store and look what I came home with...OMG! I brought home stuff for future classes and stuff for me to use but OMG! I just love all this stuff!

Over on the right side of my desk you can see the cover to my newest chipboard scrapbook.
This is actually a much bigger undertaking then anything I have ever made and it was all started when I watched a video someone put a link to here on WOYWW! I actually have the cover and the first couple of pages done but there is still a lot to be done till it is finished. I will photograph the book when I am done and do a post on it soon. I really like the look of what I have done so far!

I love the Wizard of Oz and grew up anticipating the rerun each year on TV. I love these awesome papers too from Graphic 45 depicting the characters and events in the book.

Another 'thing' I found at Michael's on sale, plus I had a coupon for 15% off total order were these suitcases! They were a promotional so I got all 3 for less then $30. They are earmarked to hold some of my excess stash till I need it. I buy when on sale and stock up so...

Here is my stash of Liquid Pearls and Perfect Pearls in the smallest box.

Well back to work. I am working on projects right now for both the Ten Second Studio Design Team in April and stuff for a class at Whole Lotta Scrap here in Norman, OK. I have had several requests for a basic class so I thought I would do a couple hours for a couple of weeks to introduce people to the different mediums and techniques they need to know to do vintage and grunge style art. Any ideas of what you think I should include in my class?

  1. Oh my goodness Vickie what a lot you have...I'm such a newie to all this and realise I have a lot to learn.
I cannot believe that you bought those beautiful suitcases for only $30. I've heard lots about Michael's.

  3. Oh Im not in a position to advise Vickie...but can you remind them that grunge isn't all about seven shades of wee wee - they are allowed to use colour! I about passed out at the sight of your desk..what a wonderful shoppng marathon; nothing like having to buy for classes! I adore your album cover, I think the door handle a touch of genius.

  4. OMG all three suitcases for.. how much??? They're all steampunky even before you do anything :) What a bargain!!
Glad you liked the pics - living in Wiltshire, you are just surrounded by history which most people don't even notice. But I did an Archaeology degree so am fascinated by ancient peoples. It's a great place to visit..hint, hint!!

  17. Beautiful new stash, love those trunk boxes, great stuff. Brilliant journal cover, gotta hand it to G45. I tell you one thing I struggle with and that's distressing properly with those TH applicators and DI, I get a lot of streaks, it's never nice and smooth and even, I'd love to know how to do that properly!

  18. I meant to say that I love the sound of your hubby's job! How exciting but I bet scary at the same time as tornados are so unpredictable in their path. No wonder you live in Oklahoma!! And yes, that was a very rare tornado for Michigan in March, and the strength of it was completely unheard of at this time of year too.

  19. Hi Vickie,

Oh, do love those suitcases! It's nice to find storage items that you can leave out as decor, isn't it! I started painting my little canvas last night (after I took my WOYWW pics). I put some crackle stuff on it (first time I've tried that) and will put another coat of paint on tonight. I have a flower that I'm going to put on it - hope it looks nice.

The Wizard of Oz was my favorite movie when I was a kid - although those flying monkeys scared me to death!

    Happy WOYWW

  27. At first I was having a terrible time leaving comments on blogs last night. They didn't want to post. NOW I get "service unavailable when I try to leave a comment. It's really frustrating. I see others having trouble with MY link, too.

You bought a LOT of wonderful new things. So impressive and it looks like you have a decent craft budget, too. Went to your DT blog and loved seeing all those crazy videos last week. Happy WOYWW from # 7.

  29. Gorgeous Wizard of Oz album, and great new stash too! What fun. I love all the colours. I am envious of you lot over the pond, having Michael's.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. My problem with throwing things away is that usually I've had them for donkey's years, and the week after I've thrown them away, I find I want them for something! I haven't done any more clearing today because we took my Mum and Dad out and now I'm exhausted - not a good day healthwise today anyway (prob. overdid it yesterday) so tonight I'm catching up with all the blogs and comments.

    Happy WOYWW,

  35. It's my first WOYWW and I found another Oklahoman! I live way up north though, almost in Kansas, and we don't have a Micheal's so of course I'm envying your suitcases galore! Thankfully we do have a Hobby Lobby or I'd probably have to move...lol! :) Also loving your Wizard of Oz scrapbook cover...I don't do scrapbooks, just cards, but I really admire what you've done with that one. I love the Wizard of Oz stuff and wanted to buy more of it but then I was like, what on earth will I do with it?! Obviously wasn't feeling very creative that day, huh? ;)

  49. You are so lucky to be able to just go down the road and buy all the stash you want - I wish I had that! We had one craft store and now that has closed down - it is just not the same if you can feel what you are buying! Love all your purchases and your Wizzard of Oz scrapbook looks fantastic - since I was a little girl (born in the States - first saw the film there on television) I have been a great fan - I have a DVD and watch it every now and then! Thanks for the lovely snoop and for me the walk down memory lane!
