WOYWW #144

***UPDATE***
I have turned off word verification again! If you have to verify you aren't a robot please let me know so I can call Google. I was told that since I run a Mac it might be resetting itself!!! BULL!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support this past year or so that I have been a WOYWW blog-hopper! I really appreciate all the comments and helpful hints that you have unselfishly given and look forward to more input in the future! I received addresses on all the blog candy prizes so it is officially closed and I will be mailing them out this week. Want to join in the fun and find out what WOYWW is? Go visit the Queen Julia's site at Stamping Ground and join us as we hop around the globe checking out one anothers blogs each week.

This is a picture of my desk this week...yes I have been 'creating.' I received my copy of A Compendium of Curiosities Volume 11 and I was motivated to try a couple techniques and I have been having fun the past couple days! I think that why my Mojo disappeared was I was being 'encouraged' to do projects that I really didn't buy into and didn't like. Instead of saying no and blowing it off I think my creativity went walk about. One of the quotes of Tim Holtz I read on the back of a picture card he sent with the book was... "I truly believe that life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself" I think one thing I am adding to my bucket list is to create things I like and not try to do stuff that I don't just because others think I should. TH goes on to say "Now it's time for your creative your journey, time to embrace your imperfection, live the life you've imagined, and embark on an artistic adventure. What you'll discover will be wonderful-what you'll discover will be yourself..."

The desk is a little messy but that's okay...you should see the floor! I have been going through stuff and reorganizing and I have stuff I will be selling or giving away soon. On my craft sheet you can see I am working on a tag to give to a friend I was in a swap with earlier in the year.
I also have finished 3 other tags. Here's one and I will post the others tomorrow. This one is my version of the March 2012 tag that Tim Holtz showed on his blog on March 1.

Well I think that is it for today. I am going back into my craft room for a bit before going to bed. We are 6-7 hours behind the UK here in Oklahoma so I try and post at night before I go to bed. I hope to read a lot of blogs tomorrow. Have a great day!

  1. What a beautiful tag. Love the lace effect. I thought I could visit a few but I find I'm pretty much done for the night too. The floor!!!! yes it is amazing how we can walk over piles, rearrange piles and create a few more. But I think I know where everything is !! I have acquired way too much in such a short time. Then I also have a sewing area..Enjoy WOYWW and have a great rest of the week. Grand weather!!!

It is giving me LOTS of crooked words to do the verification thing.

  6. Love your tag, I'm hoping to get a chance to play later this week. The butterflies are fabulous and I love your background. A messy desk is a productive desk....well that's my excuse anyway. Happy WOYWW, hugs, Erika.

  9. Love your butterfly tag and those words by TH are inspiring. I lost my mojo this week and the more I read that the better I feel. I certainly have plenty of imperfections to embrace (he he).
    Have a great week.

  14. I'm so glad your mojo has made a return. I agree that it's so easy to get wrapped up in creating things and not really enjoying what we are doing and it's lovely just to have time to create for the sake of creating.
Your tag is gorgeous and enjoy your C of C.
    Happy WOYWW

  15. Lucky you to have his book already, I am trying to make my credit card behave and not bounce across my desk, so when it does, I will order on line... great desk and I prefer your tag to Tims! I like the doily in the background rather than the wood.

  16. Bull indeed - never confess to loving and owning a mAc when you ask for system support as most PC poeple haven't got a clue about Macs,

if I get captcha'd 'll persevere!
I'm impressed that you produce such things of beauty from such a tiny work space.

  17. A great post and well said - it's so easy to get swept along in hype and see - you have made a fabulous tag - a little bit of Tim but all stamped with your style - great colours and butterflies...! Thanks for sharing with WOYWW...Sarah at 1

  18. Totally agree with you about doing projects that you don't buy into...that kills any creativity for sure. I like your butterfly tag:)

  20. Love your take on the March tag. It's sometimes difficult not to get caught up in the latest must have's and must do's , plus there's so much new stuff comming out we would never have the time to do them all so we've definately just gotta stick with the things we love! x

  23. Mr. Mojo was pouting? Bad Mr. Mojo! I wouldn't dare take a picture of my floor this week as the AB class has taken over my life and my space! LOVE your tag, it is to die for beautiful!! waving hi from the beautiful hills of North Carolina :)

  24. Oh Vicki, that tag is absolutely beautiful, stunning in fact!

I know exactly what you mean about your stash. I still have thins here in my cupboard that I brought when I first started card making eight years ago and know I will never use again because I’ve moved on from the very basics….well I hope I have, Lol. The trouble is I just can’t bring myself to bin it.

    Happy Crafting!

  25. Great post ... I found myself nodding along with what I was reading. It is so easy to find yourself doing stuff that isn't quite you just because it's what's expected - so your pledge is a great addition to your bucket list. Love your tag - colour of the butterflies contrasted against the lace is quite stunning. Hope you are having a good WOYWW. Elizabeth x #21

  27. I'm with you all the way on making things you like to do. I used to make a lot of cards for friends and family and grew to dread being asked so I bit the bullet and said 'no thanks' and now I only make those cards I want to and spend my time on other luscious tasks and altered art.
So pleased you managed to get rid of WV, lets hope you have banished it for good.

  29. Vickie, I really love your butterfly tag. it looks so rich and elegant. You are so right about doing things you like and not what others think you should do. We are all different and should celebrate that fact. As a personal thing, I am not keen on the grunge/Tim Holtz stuff on the whole, but I can appreciate the work put into it by those that do like it. If you try to follow a project slavishly, you will never feel as happy as when you take the idea and make it your own. It should be fun. Thank you for your visit and encouragement. We used to use really cheap hairspray on the children's chalk work in school to protect their masterpieces. Have a really good week. xx Maggie #8

  30. The tag is just stunning Vicki. I think your'e right not to do what is expected rather than what you like to do. Life is too short. This was painfully brought home to me a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for sharing your desk. Anne x

  31. Loved this post! I think we all have times where we try to create something to other people's specificaitons, and while sometimes a challenge is good, we have to remember to remain true to the artist we really are. I taught classes for 6 years doing the type of work that the boss wanted. In all that time, I have never keep not even one of those projects because the style just wasn't mine. I finally burned out and left to pursue things on my own. My creative juices have thanked me each time I design somehpthing for myself.

  32. lovely post, you've gone all phylosophical (spelling?) But I know what you mean, I think the thing is you have to be true to who you are. I think i might try and catch up with Mr T's monthly tags, only 3 to do LOL. I'll try for next week, opps I have my book to do to, well a girl can dream cant she?

  33. Glad you have got back on your own track Vickie! It true what you say we do get trapped in the creations of others & try to emulate things we dont really want to do but get compelled to follow the crowd or the fashion! Now switch off the computer & get back to your desk & go create yourself!!! :) have a wonderful week!

  34. I totally agree - you should make things that YOU enjoy making. Not what someone else's idea of what you should be doing. Unlike most of the WOYWWers I don't make a lot of cards. I wondered if I should (I have a lot of supplies) so that I might fit into the theme of WOYWW - but decided against it. I made ATCs for the first time -- love that. And I have a feeling that I'd enjoy making tags too. Yep, there are still lots of other paper options that I'd love to do - just maybe not cards.

Making the She Art canvases have really hit home for me. I need to think about how I can make them my own - or at least feel that they are my own.

Thanks again for the blog candy! I'll be running to the mailbox instead of avoiding it!

    Hugs,
    Kay

  35. Your tag is gorgeous! And yes, you should do what you want to do artistically. It's good to try out new things but only if you want to and if you don't enjoy it then there is no reason to keep doing it!
Keep having fun and enjoying what you do!

  36. I couldnt agree more Vicki, funny that we have to give ourselves permission to craft the things that we want to...I come unstuck with this often when people ask for workshops in techniques or styles that I'm not into.. it makes me uninterested and no good at them!! The tag is gorgeous, loving the lacey effect.

  37. I'm having a terrible time keeping my computer going this week. It keeps freezing up and I have to reboot. What a pain.

You are lucky to get that new TH book. I haven't seen the first one, yet (grin). If you have time today, please check out my blog post (the book review of Traci's new book). If I see YOU before I see my art friend Dana, who lives in Wichita, but never answers her phone, I will give that doodle book to you! Kathy definitely doesn't want it back!

    Happy belated WOYWW from #2.

  38. No point making something for the sake of if you don't enjoy it!!
Love what you have done to Tim's tag! Lovely lace effect!

  39. lovely tag! And I am so with you on the 'doing what you think you should' versus creating whatever takes your fancy! recently I was asked to do a couple of projects using specific techniques, and they did not 'float my boat' (dunno if that's a saying over the pond:-) but when i made something I truly wanted to do, the creativity flowed.

Thanks for your lovely posts, I always enjoy reading your blog
