Cards

This is a card making week for me I guess.  I joined another swap group on Facebook called Paper Crafting Swappers and cards is primarily what they swap.  I still have a couple cards to make to share with my swap partners but since none of them look at this blog I will post what I have made so far.

Have you ever heard of an explosion or squash fold card?  I made the card using Stampin' Up! (SU) card stock and BoBunny print paper.  The stamps are from Day of Gratitude stamp set SU put out a few years ago.

The card is made from an 8"x 8" piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock fold as shown below.
Card opened out flat.  You score at 4" then turn and score at 4" again.  Turn the piece diagonal and score the length.  Fold the card so that the diagonal fold folds inside the card.  It was a lot easier then I thought it was going to be but it still took some thinking to get it to fold right.

Shelly's Images Blog has an awesome tutorial on how to make the Squash card.  Check it out.

The second card I have made is made using Stampin' UP! cardstock, BoBunny print papers, SU punches, stamps and dies from Stamps of Life.
I think Mr Snowman is cuter in real life cause you can see the glitter on his hat and scarf and I couldn't get it to photograph well at all.

More to come!  Hope you like these cards!

Valentines Card

Thought I would share a some Valentines cards I made for a class at Scrap That in Norman.  The class is on February 7th at 6-8 pm and will cost $15.  I love all the bright pinks and reds that come out this time of year and the sentimentality that goes with the holiday!

Most all the papers and cardstock came from last years stash so I am not for sure what company made what!  I love Stampin Up!, Graphic 45, BoBunny, Close to My Heart, SEI, KaiserCraft, Reminisce, Authentique, etc. etc. etc.  If you look into the protective boxes in my craft room you would see how much I love papers!  I never know whats what except for the obvious lines like Graphic 45 etc.  I believe all the cards in this class are from Reminisce but I am not for sure.  I love using two sided papers and using both sides on a card!

This is the front and back of the two sided paper with the collage being made from cut out bits from the reverse side of the beautiful wine colored paper.  Ribbon and bling are from Stampin' Up!

I used Stampin Up! Co'ordinations cardstock to make the heart's and a new mini label punch and stamp for the sentiment! I bought some of the discounted pleated ribbon from SU also.  Made a nice card I thought.
This is from Reminisce line this year.  I loved the hearts swap but the flip side of the paper was a collage of vintage valentines and I couldn't make up my mind which to use so I made a banner using the cutouts fromthe flip side.  I left the sentiment line blank so each individual could stamp the sentiment of their choice.

I left the inside blank on all the cards and I am taking a stack of stamps so that everyone can decide what they want to put on the inside...if anything.  Any way leave me a comment and let me know what you think about the cards I am doing next month.

Twilight Tag

I don't know about you but I am a big Twilight fan and have read or listened to all four of the books (I don't consider Midnight Sun or Bree Tanners part of the series) multiple times. It angers me that someone let Midnight Sun out before it was published but Stephanie Meyers says that she is convinced that Edward deserves to have his story told and has left us with a promise to finish it. Bree Tanner is interesting but not an integral part of the series to me. The Twilight series is such a story of love conquering all that it gives me a sense of hope and renewal every time I read it or watch one of the movies. I have tickets for the second night of the Breaking Dawn part 1 showing this month and I can hardly wait for it to come cause it is Edward and Bella's wedding! Hooray!!

Here is the finished tag I promised that I would show you from the last WOYWW post.
I bought a set of stamps from ArtfulInkables called Fictionally Inspired several years ago that had a lot of words that relate to the Twilight books...all the characters names, statements about vampires, wolves etc. The second ArtfulInkables set is called Into the Moonlight. I haven't been able to find out what happened to the ArtfulInkables people or store but nothing has been on their blog or in the store since November of 2010 so it is like it just doesn't exist anymore.

Any way it is a simple tag with just names, words, etc pertinent to the books. Hope you like it.

Materials used:
Artful Inkables stamps: Fictionally Inspired
Tim Holtz Tag Die
Distress inks black soot, fired brick
Stampin'Up! (SU) cardstock, whisper white, basic black, old olive, always artichoke
SU Dazzling Details
SU cherry cobbler seam binding
DCWV Immortal Love Stack
Mulberry Roses
EK Success leaf punch

This is the 200th post on this blog. I am going to have to think of something to do to celebrate. Keep tuned...maybe some blog candy would be a good deal!
