WOYWW #398

Another busy and eventful week around the Doswell house.  Suffice it to say you should be happy that you weren't in close proximity to the place!  After two weeks of both of us being sick I broke down and called the doctor requesting antibiotics and steroids.  Chuck was complaining last night that he feels like he has cracked some ribs from coughing and the stomach muscles hurt like he has been in a weight lifting competition.  It is a horrible disease and I hope misses you and keeps on trucking to where ever it is bound for because this cold/flu is not much fun!  After being on antibiotics for 3 days we actually did begin to start feeling a little better...hope it continues to improve!

Today is Wednesday and by all words and deeds WOYWW!  If you want more information regarding WOYWW pop on over to Julia's blog Stamping Ground and click the link that says WOYWW and all the info is there!  I apologize to the folks that visited me last week that I didn't get back to...promise to visit this week!

My desk...I did get into a little crafting after the antibiotics kicked in.  My daughter and I skyped and had a good time Sunday night crafting and creating cards!  Some aren't as good as what I wished they were but hey...I am a crafting!

Nothing particularly new or exciting...just addressing the cards to be mailed out today to the swap partners I was assigned!

Remember the Twist and Popup card from last week that I showed you?  I decided I was going to do it till I got it right and made a couple for other swaps!

I made this using some papers Heather gave me from Close to My Heart!  I always was a Stampin Up! Fan but I am really getting into these sets and papers.

Inside of the card!

I really love the cool blue green of this paper!

The next one was also made with some papers she gave me!

These were fun to make!

I love cards and envelopes that match and have just about as much fun coloring them as I did just stamping in the past.   This was a new technique for me this week called a center step card...if you click the picture you can see the glitter from a new product I bought from Crafters Companion called Spectrum Noir Sparkle a while back...a paint brush that glitters...no mess!

A vintage look card!

Another new technique this week was the dress pleated card.  I tried to "pleat" several different papers but if they were prints they didn't do as well as a solid on one side and a print on the other!

Tried my hand at a monochromatic blue card for a swap...don't know that I like this!
Well that is it for me...better get dressed another appointment this after noon...yesterday's appointment with the urologist for the urodynamics test has left me a bit off on going to today's appointment...  Always something as we age isn't it!

WOYWW and What's Up Doc!

It has been almost a month since I posted...I hang my head in shame!!  I promised to stay on top of this blog and keep it current but a month long trip and other issues just derailed all my good intentions.

WOYWW bloggers will appreciate the mess my one desk have devolved into...OMG!  How does this happen?  It seems like I am always picking up and putting away stuff but...obviously not fast enough!
My mail working desk is covered with all sorts of fun stuff.   Want to see other people fun desks?  Check out Julia's blog Stamping Ground for links to others.

So...My scary desk today.  Yes! I have been shopping!  Deals too good to pass up!  New Years Resolution...don't buy more till I have used what I have!
I made a trip to Target the other day and visited their $1 bins and came away with a load of fun crafting items...I love those $1 bins and have to buy whenever I see the stuff or it is gone when I need it.
Everything $1 including the 6"x6" paper pads!  Couldn't pass it up...
Loved all the shaped glitter and sequins!  When do you ever see snowflakes and reindeer in glitter?

I also found a big sale on Washi tape...not that I needed more!
Bought 5 new tubes of washi tape for next to nothing on a crazy sale at Michael's!
That big plastic jar is about a two gallon size that held the cheesy puff snacks before I repurposed it...had to recycle it you know cause it has a purple top!  All the Washi tape in the jar I have been accumulating for several years and yes I do use a lot of wash tape!  Am I hearing you say you want to know what that wire thing is behind the plastic jar?  Well it is a tiered wire basket I found at Sam's that I thought would be perfect for my glitter glue, glitter ribbon, and glitter tapes...what do you think?  Keeps most of the sparkle in one spot!
Went to a wine and paint party a couple weeks ago and had a blast painting a Christmas canvas.  I am looking forward to more of this...  As you can see my snowman didn't end up like any of the others.  We drank wine, listened to the football game and painted.  It was a blast!

This is my snowman...not exactly what the others looked like but I like him!

What he was suppose to look like!!

Sorry for the photo collage of sorts...I think my computer has been drinking.  You can see the three choices for a snowman I was given and the one on the left is the one I made...doesn't quite look like the examples and I did follow directions...kinda...after 3 glasses of wine I am surprised I got one to look this good!

Heather was here last week and we went to a retreat and had a blast.  I will post pictures soon of that!

Cards

This is a card making week for me I guess.  I joined another swap group on Facebook called Paper Crafting Swappers and cards is primarily what they swap.  I still have a couple cards to make to share with my swap partners but since none of them look at this blog I will post what I have made so far.

Have you ever heard of an explosion or squash fold card?  I made the card using Stampin' Up! (SU) card stock and BoBunny print paper.  The stamps are from Day of Gratitude stamp set SU put out a few years ago.

The card is made from an 8"x 8" piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock fold as shown below.
Card opened out flat.  You score at 4" then turn and score at 4" again.  Turn the piece diagonal and score the length.  Fold the card so that the diagonal fold folds inside the card.  It was a lot easier then I thought it was going to be but it still took some thinking to get it to fold right.

Shelly's Images Blog has an awesome tutorial on how to make the Squash card.  Check it out.

The second card I have made is made using Stampin' UP! cardstock, BoBunny print papers, SU punches, stamps and dies from Stamps of Life.
I think Mr Snowman is cuter in real life cause you can see the glitter on his hat and scarf and I couldn't get it to photograph well at all.

More to come!  Hope you like these cards!
