WOYWW #250

I had a fun time in the craft room this evening making a tag and trying to figure out how to make it work out the way I wanted to.  It didn't come out the way that I wanted but I like it anyway.  Needless to say in the process of having fun making my tag my desk has become a really messy junked up heap of "schtuff"!  Okay! I know it always looks this way but I think it is even a little more so then usual!
I try and keep it picked up but somehow it always gets too looking like this and it doesn't seem to matter if I put away after I use each product it still ends up a mess so I just quit trying to put it away during and just put away at the end of each fun time...or maybe at the beginning of the next!
This wasn't the way I envisioned this tag turning out but I like it!  I first inked the card with various shades of green, yellow, and blue Distress Ink and distressed around the edges.  I used Tim Holtz Classics #1 dragonfly stamp and the flourish from the Spring Sprung stamp set.   I stamped the dragonfly in Archival black ink then stamped the whole dragonfly a second time and then the wings a third so I could layer them on the tag.  Using coarse texture gel and a wave stencil I gave the tag some depth...the texture gel picked up the color from the underlying Distress Ink and took on that color.  Kind of cool huh!  The dragonfly is colored with Luminart spray in green and blues.  I used some bling on the body and antenna.

I finished up the tag with some metal bits and coin charms I found at Micheal's on sale.

If you would like to see other desks and fun projects go to Stamping Ground and Julia will tell you how you can come play with us...it is a lot of fun!   Off to see if I can't find some more fun things to get into in the room of stash.  Have fun hopping around the blogs!

Tag Class

I am teaching two classes this week at Scrap That in Norman and wanted to get the word out cause I was told yesterday I am just not posting enough  again!  OMG!  I promise to do better!

On the third Wednesday of each month we are going to start having a class called What's Up Wednesday to teach everyone how to use some of those awesome goodies they are buying at the store.  Yes...that was a brayer not a crimper you bought the other day...you know who you are! Anyway the class is at 6 pm so feel free to drop by if you would like to learn something about embossing/debossing this month.  We are going to make a card tag that I also will be teaching in the Tags class on Thursday night.

This months tags class is all about travel and I used several of the Tim Holtz stamp sets to create 3 tags of various sizes.
The first tag is a gigantic #12 tag made with stamps from TH CMS 128 Road trip.  I love this set with the big broad tire tracks and that old car.  I can remember traveling Route 66 to get home from California when I was a kid so it has some significance to me.  I made the hang down tag from a piece of the Destinations paper...an Oklahoma tag!
up close!  see the Oklahoma tag!

The second one is a #8 tag using the TH CMS 127 On the Railroad.  This a a huge locomotive  image and it is so detailed and fun to play with!  I love the tracks, the railroad crossing sign...so fun.

TH CMS 124 Warehouse District the mini version of the Air Travel stamps was used on the third and final tag.  I love that these stamps come in a smaller size perfect for tags.  Once again I used a #12 tag and folded it to make a card and embossed it with a texture fade.  I am going to use this tag/card for the What's Up Wednesday class to show dry embossing using folders vs wet embossing using a heat set embossing powder.

Okay hope this works as a post for today!  Come play with us this week....Sharron says it is a group therapy session with lots of crafting, talking, and laughing.   Call 310-3100 to save your seat!

Trick or Treat Tags

I received a couple little goodies in the mail on Wednesday last week...A Tim Holtz strip die, the Halloween Shadows Sizzlits Die, and the Tim Holtz stamp set, Halloween Cutouts!  It was an immediate "oh my what can I do with these" type reaction when I opened the packet.  Well...here is what I did.

I think it turned out really cute!  I masked and stenciled a big fat harvest moon on the tag in Mustard Seed Distress ink then used the fall inks to create this tag.  I stamped the trick or treaters on the tag in Archival black in then cut out all the I used all the die strip cutouts on this card!  The orange and brown card stock are some from Stampin Up!  Did you know that they now carry kraft core cardstock in 3 colors?
Well almost all the die cuts from the strip were used on this card but I had half the tricker treaters portion left so...  I made another tag!

I can see all sorts of possibilities with the tree, owl, and fence for use on ATC after the Halloween season is gone.  Lots of possibilities!
