WOYWW #419

This week went by pretty fast...WOW!  Seems like I just got done with posting last week and it is already time to post again.  I don't mind though cause WOYWW is so much fun!  What is WOYWW...check here.  Julia started it 8 years ago and has kept it going through thick and thin!  Thanks Julia!
My desk this week...don't know what happened to the desk picture but I have already deleted it from my phone!  Oh well...next week

Busy making cards this week trying to get caught up with card and ATC swaps.  I am not posting pictures of ATC's I made till I hear that the people I sent them to actually have received them.  I only shipped off 6 and for some reason thought that I needed 10 so I can still swap a few more.  I can show you pictures of the ATC's I have received this past week!  All are beautiful...thank you!

UPDATE:
Went to the mail box today and lo and behold another ATC has shown up!  WOW Andrea!  You are awesome!  I love the ATC pocket on the left, the tac, and the card  it all fits into!  Thank you for the awesome stamps and die cuts!  I will definitely use them!
Some cards I made this week!  I am all caught up I think!
a sketch challenge card!
a graduation card

a double apron/curtain fold card

a sketch challenge and colors blue, brown, and green!

blue, masculine, circles Challenge card

Male Birthday

another green, brown, and blue challenge!

flowers, handmade embellies!

I have totally caught up on all my swap and challenge commitments now and it really feels good.  I have been spending time every day doing some kind of work in my craft room.  Makes me feel better knowing I have accomplished something!  I actually made two more but I evidently didn't take a picture so I hope someone does when they get them

The garden is growing well...we have harvested potatoes (20 lbs), onions (15 lbs), garlic (+/-3 lbs), and I am not sure weight wise how much in cabbages (6 green and 1 red), Kale, and Chard.  We have put many packages of both in the freezer and will put more in as it grows.  If you would like to see more pictures of the yard and garden check here...
Kale, Cabbage, and Chard

I canned 7 pint jars of green beans and potatoes.
Learned an interesting lesson yesterday...Chuck and I picked these green beans...he had planted two rows green and two rows black beans....the interesting thing I learned was black beans can't be picked and used for canning!
Black bean are tough and stringy and have to be left to ripen like peas...okay we will wait!

it has been a productive weekend!

I went to the doctor on Wednesday of this past week and was talked into having a steroid injection done in my left knee…the knee I broke this past Christmas morning…  I know how to do things up right is a sure think!!!  Anyway I had the injection and was amazed at how I actually didn't even feel the needle puncture my skin and secondly how fast the darn thing worked!  I walked out of the office a changed woman and I have been happily crafting ever since then.

What have I made?  Well first off I signed up for a tag swap on creativeblock-Stampers Anonymous a Yahoo Group.  I made these using mostly Ranger Ink and Stampers Anonymous products.  Ranger #8 manilla tags, various Ranger/Tim Holtz distress inks, stencils, dies, stamps, Stampin Up! Spooky Fun, Stampin Up! card stock.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the spider and some sparkly hearts to make the hourglass!  Stampin Up! ribbon!
Then the second thing I made was some ATC's for and Altered Tattered and Timeworn swap called WICKED.  Each tag could be the same or different but each one had to have a letter on it that spelled out WICKED!  Yes!  So much fun making these.  I used a new stamp set from Stampin'Up! called Jar of Haunts.  I stamped the jars and then used the other stamps to fill them up!  The inks are a combination of Stampin Up! and Ranger Distress Inks.  The colors I used to color in the jars are all Stampin Up! markers, Tim Holtz stencils, Spectrum Noir glitter pens, and the twine and stickers are just some I had in my stash!
I was only suppose to make one set of 6 but ended up making two additional sets so I could make a couple Halloween Pocket Letters with them.  I had never heard of Pocket Letters until I logged on to WOYWW a few weeks ago and Nikki from Graphix and Designs was talking about PL…huh?  So I looked up Pocket Letters and decided to give it a try!  Woot!  Talk about having a lot of fun!  I think I am going to have to make some more!
Here are all of the ATC's and as you can see the two Pocket Letter pages are in 8 1/2"x11" baseball card pages/sleeves.  According to Jannete Lane Pocket Letters are a fun way to send snail mail to friends and family.  Check out her site and have some fun!
Okay I am off of here and going to go find something else to work on while my knee allows me to sit pain free…It is amazing what a little jab will do!

WOYWW #209

Just want to issue an apology to those I am swapping ATC with and to let you know that I procrastinated getting them done and still haven't finished due to a lot of life issues.  I am not flaking out on you and hopefully they will be winging there way to you soon!  Speaking of ATC I thought I would share what I have received so far and I think they are all so gorgeous and I am so thankful for all of them!
Awesome ATC from Wipso, Twiglet, Darnell, lil Pidge, Nikki, Joyanna, and Sara
It has been another interesting week around here weatherwise.  I think most everyone knows that my husband Chuck is a severe storms meteorologist and a storm chaser and has a business dealing with weather.  Check out cdoswell.com for some of his photography.  Chuck was only about 500 yards from this beast when it started.  I have been storm chasing with him for years and it takes a lot to get me upset weather wise but this past month has my brain in turmoil.  I love the majesty of severe weather...it is so beautiful and speaks to the artist in my soul and my right brain swings into action watching all color and imagery that can be had.  This past month though it has had an uglier side to it.  The Oklahoma City metro area was hit on May 20 and left a path of death an devastation that really has rocked our world around here... this was less then 5 miles from this tornado.  Friday we were hit again with another killer storm that spawned an F5 tornado with winds of over 290 miles per hour and the monster was 2.6 miles wide in spots on the ground over 45 minutes.  Here is some good footage on YouTube from some chaser friends...

This storm actually rolled over us after the tornado and spawned some weaker tornadoes around us...luckily (once again) we weren't hit.   We have several friends and chasers that weren't as lucky and died in the storm...first storm chasers ever that we know of that have been killed while chasing.  Some of you wanted to know why we stay here...I was born here it is the only life I know.  The storms are only about 1 1/2-2 months out of the year and it is rare that we get hit like this...we are setting records here this year!  The weather is usually temperate, not to hot, not to cold, life is good...except for the rare occasions it is boring weather.

My desk this week isn't much changed from last week due to gardening and trying to keep up with things while Chuck is out of town so I am not even going to take a picture of it instead I will take a picture of how my garden is growing!

A visitor in the garden!
beans corn tomato
squash, sunflowers, tomatoes and peppers
I am off today to Dallas actually Arlington, Texas to a convention of scrapbookers/crafters/sewing artists.  My daughter, Terri, and I decided to go down to see what is going on new in the world of crafting.  This is the first year ever that the Great American Scrapbook Conventions has collaborated with Martha's Sewing Market and we think it is a good deal!  I hear Tim Holtz will be there demoing in the StampersAnonymous booth and showing off his new fabrics!
Stitch Craft Create Live: The Ultimate Scrapbooking + Sewing Event
I am looking forward to hearing from everyone how the WOYWW crop went and how much fun they had!  I wish I could have been there...it is on my bucket list to make one someday.  I am saving up pennies!

Okay enough from me!  I am already way past the keeping the post short rule so hopefully don't get fussed at!  Interested in knowing what I am talking about when I say WOYWW?  Check out the link and Julia with enlighten you!

Halloween ATC of the creepy kind!

After the last post with the spider in it I thought I would just keep the theme going and here is a Halloween ATC in black and orange with another 8 legged creeper!

On this ATC I used the Tim Holtz Halloween Mini Holidays and Halloween Silhouetes for for the spider then embossed the spider with a TH folder to give 3 dimensional affect.  Folder doesn't exactly line up with the stamped image but it was close enough.
