This is post two for today so I will try and make it short and sweet. Heather joined me over at WLS yesterday after she left the studio and we spent several hours working on a project making a metal framed message center. It was a class that Leslie at WLS had offered last month but due to time and scheduling restrictions we were unable to attend but Leslie was kind enough to make us up a kit each. I don't have pictures of Heathers but will try to get her to send me a photo so I can share her's here also.
The basic framed message board is 12x12 and can be used as a dry erase board or is magnetic. I decided to cover the entire surface with paper and use magnets on the biggest portion of the board and then push pins on the 5x5 cork board, I love Graphic 45 papers and in this project I chose to use the old world map from the Renaissance Faire Collection for the background and the old world masters paintings for detailing. It reaches to my antique soul and I love creating things with the paper.
The metal work surrounding the frame is the metal color Appletini from Ten Second Studios using a couple of the metal work molds B57 and BMOM2. The owners of Ten Second Studios are a dynamic mother/daughter combo that have a web production each Tuesday called Taco Tuesday that has a lot of interesting info about their products and can be absolutely hilarious.
The closeup of the left lower corner is of the magnets that I made to use with the message center. I cut out pics from the paper and glued them onto the glass blobs I bought at Michaels attaching a magnet when they were dry.
I left the inner edge of the frame the basic unfinished wood but covered the outside in a gold toned ribbon. (Thanks for the idea Heather) I think I need to find an old compass to hang in the upper corner to finish the picture. What do you think?

Quilled Hummingbird Card
I spent yesterday in a craft class learning to do quilling and to make a quilled card! It is a lot of work but oh so worth it. Heather joined us about 1530 and we worked on a class project kit making a message center than Leslie held last month but that neither one of us could attend. Lots and lots of fun!
The class was at Whole Lotta of Scrap with Gus...Augusta Frank. Gus teaches the origami class and now the quilling class. Gus has been quilling for decades and makes cards for sale at many establishments in town.
This is Gus's card! Isn't it beautiful!
The class was all about basics and almost 20 people showed up to learn her tricks and to try their hand at making a hummingbird card.
This is my card! I think I am happy with it!
My card was a lot of fun to make and I think I will be using some of the techniques I learned on other projects.
Here is an upclose of the hummingbird! I love hummingbirds in the wild and for many years put out a feeder but there just doesn't seem to be enough of them around our house to keep the food from souring. Did you know that soured hummingbird food is to hummingbirds like a alcoholic drink to us?

Valentines Card
It wouldn't be Valentines without making a card for my sweetie. This card is an easel design and once again I used stuff out of my stash.
I know the base of the card is made out of Stampin Up Real Red and Whisper White. The DP is Bo Bunny, the Stickers and overlay are from Cloud Nine. The back ground stamp is a wide roller from Stampin Up, the center sentiment is from JustRite stamps, the Happy Valentines is from a Craft lounge set from last year. The green ink is from Close to My Heart and is called Juniper. I borrowed that from Heather.
Speaking of Heather she made some really beautiful cards to give away at the Valentines Party last weekend. The cards all the same design but she used various colors and papers to make them.
Because I am the MOMMA (and special) she made me a special card.
This card almost made it in the trash and I don't know why! Heather can be as critical as I am about the stuff she makes. I liked it so she gave it to me to keep. Yay!!
Heather has special gift for knowing how to put things together and will go far with her artistic endeavors!

Valentines Cards
I hope everyone had a Happy Valentines day! I worked but was able to participate in a couple of events that I really enjoyed. On Friday night Heather and I went to Whole Lotta Scrap here in Norman and had a Valentine's party/scrapbook event. I accomplished very little except to socialize and make a couple cards but I had a lot of fun and that's what it is all about!!
The women at Whole Lotta Scrap are an awesome bunch of people. I wish I had taken my camera with me to photograph the group so I could show my friends off! Part of the preparation for a Valentines party was to make a Valentines box so folks who wanted to participate in a swap could deposit your Valentines into! I tried to get a picture of the box I made but was unable to get a good shot so I will show you the top and side view in two separate shots.
This is the top of the box and I was satisfied with the way it worked out but couldn't get the lines of the papers to line up for me. This is Bo Bunny paper from last year that came in a scrapbooking kit with stickers and brads. I liked the homey feel of the paper but didn't like it in scrapbooking. Click on the pic to see the detail. The pink cardstock is Pink Pirouette and any ink used is from Stampin Up.
The punches are from Martha Stewart that came out this season. I can't remember who the flowers or buttons are made by and they are out of the stash in my craft room that I have made a pledge to my self to use up!
The following are pictures of the cards that I made to give out at the party. I figured you couldn't have a Valentine without a chocolate heart and incorporated it into my card. The cardstock (whisper white, chocolate chip, real red), stamps, punches, and ink are all from Stampin Up except for the DP and I am unsure of who made it. Pretty though!
The inside of the card had the Hershey's Bliss chocolate heart attached with a dimensional. I had seen something like this on the net last year using Ghiradelli chocolate and really thought it was a cute idea and changed things around to my way so I could use the heart!
No party would be complete without food and we had an awesome potluck that night. Once again I wish I had a camera to show all the food that was available and most of it was hand made by these creative women. Me...I went ot SAM's and bought some yummy cupcakes.
Hope you had a happy day!
